I have had XP SP3 for a while now and my Netgear WGR614v6 is still crashing on a fairly regular basis... as it has with SP2. Just like the D-Link one before it, and the other Netgear one before that.
It's a regular thing to hear my housemates groan, run downstairs to the kitchen, and power-cycle the WAP to get the internetz back on again...
Wireless routers, ADSL routers, they all seem to crash like this on a fairly irregular regular basis. I'm a systems integrator for pharmacy in Australia, and have seen this with tens of different WAPs and ADSL routers models. I would never put one of these in between any two mission critical network points - only use a switch. We have a PocketPC 802.11 device, in use at hundreds of sites, which we only configure with a particular 3Com WAP, and with a particular firmware version - anything else will fail.
I really didn't like my boss back in 2001, so I wrote this, walked out and lived happily ever after...
"I resign. I expect my full entitlements (outstanding pay etc) within 48 hours as I am entitled to under state law."
I got all of my pay that day too. So it worked!

Garth: "Turn it off, man! Turn it off! It's sucking my will to live!"
I for one welcome our new always-in-focus overlords.
I don't like those two words so close together. Sounds like a combination you'd see on Fox News...
I for one welcome our new Tbireazrag overlords!
