If it's like the federal government, he gets between 20 and 26 days of vacation time per year. It can accumulate for up to two years.
At least they didnt spank him and take away his birthday!
I've heard that when using a program such as Kazaa, or Limewire, if you limit the sharing folder to one folder, and then transfer the files you've downloaded out of that folder when you're done, you're safe. Can anyone confirm this?
On the other hand, this approach wouldnt allow anyone to download if everybody did it.
At least they havent tried to mount lasers onto sharks yet. That would be the navy.
Honestly though, the advancements of defense technology are amazing. I wonder if this is set to be amongst the missile defense system in eastern Europe that is causing so much controversy.
I can tell you exactly why Linux has failed. I've been using Linux for exactly two months. I'm fairly knowledgeable in computer programming (c++, java) and I've had 4 computers at home for as long as I can remember.
Out of the blue one day, a friend of mine gave me a computer. I decided to load Linux on it to see how it went. I loaded Mepis to start with.
First, after getting it loaded, I had to create my trash can. An easy task, but ridiculous as well. Google search revealed the answer, but why should an end user have to make his own trash can? Does anyone really think that is going to fly with the non-computer literate public? I know this was Mepis specific probably, but its a symptom of larger issues.
Second..just learning the command line interface is a bit of a task. I install something from synaptic or using apt-get and there is no guarantee I will even know where it's installed....and I'm supposed to use this how? I, for the most part, find my way around with google and a bit of diggin on my own, but this is the kind of thing that makes my father throw computers away all together.
The only reason I havent loaded XP pro on this machine is since playing with it, I've set my theme the way I like it and I have some files and programs setup that I dont feel like or cant transfer to windows.
There's no mention in the article of streams such as ShoutCast.
I use shoutcast for mine and there are literally thousands others using it. Pirate radio is another free one. They may not bother with mine and other radio stations because I dont have any income coming from it and dont want or expect it either.
On another note I think trying to make internet radio stations pay a royalty to combat stream ripping is a completely insane idea that shows just how out of touch these people are. Do they honestly think that if I want music I have to resort to ripping low quality streams? There are 1001 places to get it available on the net. I've got better things to do with my time than to search out music on the radio and rip the stream.
I've tried ripping a stream of an old 1960's broadcast. I intented to use some of the audio for commercials I was putting together. It was a pain and I was left with two choices:
1) sit at the computer and listen until just the right moment and begin ripping or; 2) record hours of audio to get the right piece and listen to it later to find it, and cut the piece out.
This is wonderful. More people who write worms, viruses, send out spam, annoying pop ads or another annoying services should be treated like this. To those out there involved in stopping this kind of thing, you have my support.
Wow! Now that the geniuses of our time have spent so much time figuring out how to explain what happens when you take a strip of paper, twist it, glue the ends together and cut it, we can move on to the smaller things like AIDS and Famine. I admire them. I'm hoping to spend my career figuring out erasers work. Mathematically speaking, of course.
There comes a time in every portable game playing devices life when it needs to learn what it takes to be a man. I think this is Nintendo's way of telling us Game Boy has made the change. (Probably at that party last weekend).
We'll be seeing more of GameBoy(man) but we'll just notice that it's different.
Somebody set us up the bomb. All your iraqi base are belong to us.
Isnt there some way the US Military can modify Roombas to clean up their mess in Iraq the same way it cleans and freshens my hardwood floors?
Yes, I realized that posting that on/. probably opened me up to all kinds of new problems. On the other hand, thank god, although american, my residence is in Europe and my site is registered to an Australian registrar and hosted elsewhere in the world.
Things could get complicated.
It seems almost impossible for smaller service providers to provide high quality service cheap enough to attract new subscribers and still compete/advertise, etc.
Good luck! This type of business requires savy subscribers to start up, and lost of them.
Hmm I just bought a slightly outdated Nokia 770 just to see how the system works with linux. I'm curious. I just began playing with linux on my home computer. Mepis to be exact and now I want to try this stuff out.
I've run my own radio station (a popular one at that) from my home for about 3 years. I stream at 80kbps. I've nobody complain about quality and I havent heard a single word from anyone about legality. The only thing I ever hear about my radio station is a stream of emails from indie bands who want air time OR people requesting playlists (to download I presume).

Any chance we can get these mice on Dr. Phil so we can find out what's really going on? How do THEY feel?

Either way it was labor intensive.
