    But in the private sector, an incompetent employee can hide his incompetence by producing large enough amounts of Powerpoint slides. Attend enough meetings and you will seem productive to the managers who organize these meetings. Having spreadsheet on the screen as the boss is passing by is also a nice job security measure.

    Camera and microphone access are in the specs, but it takes time to implement, apparently. And what "web animations" use the microphone and camera anyway?

    IE on XP is broken in that regards yes, but that is frankly no different from trying to run a PS3 game on a PS2. Old mess is old.

    What do you mean by "valueless"? An "unmaintained" work is still under copyright. I cannot see how your statement can be derived from whjat I wrote, but you are probably used to building strawmen.

    I do expect to buy a replacement device within three years, yes. Or have the battery replaced by a technician if needed be. However, I had to replace my PSP's battery, and at least one older mobile phone back in the day. To me, a user replaceable battery says: "You will need to replace this". $300 more than what, anyway? Do you think a non-replaceable battery significantly increases the cost of the device? That it would be $300 cheaper with a user-replaceable battery? Then show me the tablets that do have that feature and are $300 cheaper. than e.g. the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

    That is one channel. Are the others the same? Otherwise the Marketplace is like the App Store and will tell you whether the app is compatible with your device or not. And who did the testing? The app developer? And you still need to check that you have enough memory.

    Non-user-replaceable battery? Same as every other modern tablet (Android devices included) then. Replaceable batteries need more space for the casing and interface, which adds to the bulk and/or reduces the battery volume (and total charge). Not worth it.

    No, it's not. Their design decision is to have internal Flash memory, and it's perfectly usable with that. You sync stuff in and out using iTunes (another design decision).

    I mean how many Android users ever use multiple SD cards? Just because something is different does not mean it's wrong.

    Yeah, I have a PC and installed a game, and it yelled something about "This game requires PixelShader 3.0" and quit. I was "what the fuck?" because I have a PC and it was a PC game. Who are they to decide that my PC is not new enough?

    You bought a dead product in a fire sale and somehow you think that is the normal price for a tablet? It's useless precisely because there are hundreds of apps that do not have any equivalent on the "twenty process killers to save your battery" Android.

    Plus, Android is based on Linux (with a few extras "borrowed" from the Java world) so you are running COMMUNISM. :)

    Why does it need to "be hacked"? My iPad 2 works fine without "hacking". Runs board games by the dozens, lets me paint and compose music, read magazines and comics, browse the web... lots of things. But no, I do not have a fucking command line shell to the underlying OS, I guess that is your pipe dream?

    Vector graphics -> SVG or canvas drawing primitives

    Seriously? You equate writing software with "create"? The hundred drawing programs, photo editing software en masse, music apps by the shedload... these do nothing for you? When professional musicians use the iPhone and iPad when composing and playing, you choose to ignore it because it's not "compiling"?

    You can, as long as you ship the emulated code in the app itself (not downloaded over the internet) and the emulator app maker ships legal games. Cases in point, the C64 and Spectrum emulators.Presumably, it was easier to get licenses for those games than it would be for other platforms. Plus the official ones like Taito and Atari of course.

    iPad + C64 emulator + Uridium + iCade cabinet = love. Except for the bloody clicking from the stick and the buttons.

    A good OS gets out of the way. An iOS user does not need to know as much about their device as an Android user. "Hum, nice game, does my device have one of the supported graphics chips? Do I have enough memory or do I have too many 'will not install to SD card' apps? Is it a trojan?"...

    The minimum charge juice needed, for iPad 2 at least, seems to be 0,5 A though; my MacBook Pro when running Windows 7 only delivers 400 mA to the iPad 2 (Windows apparently reserves 100 mA for "something"), and the iPad 2 when connected says "not charging". Does charge the iPhone 4S though...

    Yeah, why did Apple copy the heavy, resistive single-touch screen, expensive tablets that PC manufacturers had tried to squeeze a mouse-and-keyboard desktop OS into?

    Oh wait, they didn't.

    You need to learn what innovation means. Unless you are still using WordStar and VisiCalc on a CP/M machine.

    Oh noes, someone is scared of iTunes, and abhor the design decision to use a sync application instead of exposing the memory and hoping the user doesn't screw something up.

    It's not hard to put a movie or an MP3 onto an iPad, whether into the document folder of a specific app or in the general music and movie folders.
