Really now. I think if your card had parity or XOR or whatever built in it would be faster, as most all the SATA RAID cards have. But the old 2400 Adaptec ATA ones seem not to have that......
How big of an array though. I have 4 250 gig drives in a RAID 5 config. It seriously took 36+ hours to rebuild on a Pentium 4 2.4 gigahertz with 1 gig of ram.
I'm looking into building another box in a similar configuration using a SATA Raid controller that supports multiple cards and online expansion.....
Seriously. I had to rebuild my array on my file server, which is 700 gigabytes. It has 4 250 gig drives connected with an Adaptec 2400 card (ATA). It took a day and a half to rebuild. I can't imagine how many days or weeks a software RAID 5 would take to rebuild........
As in getting TWO of them, and mirroring them. When you get into 100s of Gigabytes, it doesn't make sense to use DVDs (right now, unless you have BluRay or something) to make backups. Get another drive of the same size, or two of them, and mirror them.
Yeah, well, these guys are getting ready to try and break that 300lb barrier which requires as little movement as possible and as many cheezy poofs as possible. Plus beer.
True enough about Microsoft. But are there more stories like that about Paypal? I know Ebay was, for a while, really HARD to reach when you had problems.....
Seriously. The End justifies the means. We have to keep all those great artists employed so we can get great things like a remake of Miami Vice, the Dukes of Hazzard, and other such crap....
Somehow, people think the subscription model works. But, I don't see this being offered with Movies on demand. The closest thing is Netflix, but even then, it's only possible to get so many a month.
I think the appeal of having EVERYTHING at the tips of ones fingers is neat, but in reality, people don't listen to EVERYTHING. I mean, of the ten thousand plus songs I have, I listen to like 100 regularly......
So, I have been using Deer Park Alpha 2 (or so it says), and when I load the latest version, none of my bookmarks tranfer. And, I can't get Deer Park Alpha 2 to export them. Ideas?
Oh, but we know that Microsoft will be on top of the game. For sure. Absolutely. Windows 2050 will be THE safest, THE most secure version of Windows yet.
Must not be what you suggest cause no one does that. In fact who even uses MSN? I have hundreds of AIM people, and Yahoo people......but like a handful of MSN guys.
But what if Sarah Connor specifically requested to be removed from the phone book, and was not. Then who was at fault?
You could argue that the MPAA has requested many times to be removed from the phonebook, and the PirateBay phonebook company has refused them.
Regardless though, it's people who actually download the torrents and use them that are at fault.
When Microsoft finally falls apart, it will be interesting to piece together the strings. And where the money went.
Microsoft really needs to focus on it's core product, Windows. Get it out. Get it working well. All funds should be directed towards that.
So, is there some sort of online petition against this? Emails or lists of Congress people who support and oppose this?
I mean, we all know Congress is working soooo hard for us....

And how sad you'd be when one of the drives fails and you lose all that data....
I meant Porn & Music not Porn Music.........yikes.
No no....no no. Well. No. Absolutely not. Porn Music no. Porn AND Music, yes.

Which bring up the question, do existing RAID controllers support this drive?
And, do firewire enclosures support them?
TWO WORDS: Porn Music
Imagine a RAID of a couple of these..........whoa........
Wise words. Words to live by.

Woohoo, party for one is more like it ;-)
Seriously, a geek getting a date? Come on now. Next you're going to say Aliens are being held in Area 51.
True enough about Microsoft. But are there more stories like that about Paypal? I know Ebay was, for a while, really HARD to reach when you had problems.....
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Don't GIVE Hollywood anymore BAD ideas. My GOD, a remake of Magnum PI. You should be stoned. Or flogged. Or BOTH.
I can't believe they sunk so low as to do the Dukes Of Hazard.
In related news, Adult Swim was running "Saved by the Bell". Thankfully they STOPPED.

Well, as far as I know, Protected AAC is still not broken in the latest version of iTunes. It had been hacked, but it seems Apple fixed it.
Yeah, and we all know that having an extra battery to listen to your slowjams is important. NOT.

Does that mean we'll get less dupe stories now? Somehow I'm not buying that one.....
You are soooo right. Promised in 2040 to be delivered in 2050 and delayed till 2075. That would not be surprising in the least.
