Don't be silly, you can still have
c:\ and / be the same thing. Just
use the mount command:
mount -f c: /
or something like that.
You may need to umount / first.
This looks neat, but have you seen BFRIS? It's been out for over a year now and has linux and windows demos. It even runs well on low-end 3dfx cards and 28.8 modems.
1) To burn a disk in the amount of time a consumer wishes to wait would require a very very expensive DVD mastering system. I don't think many consumers would hang around for the 30 minutes to an hour it would take to copy a DVD.
Did you read what I put in parenthesis? The stores would keep a cache of the movies pre-burned. When they're running low, they can start burning new copies. The idea is that they always have a dvd in stock. Is the matrix coming out? Uh oh, that'll be popular, better burn 200 copies in advance. Caching isn't difficult.
2) Unless you charge the customer who has a copy of a DVD for the length of time they have the DVD (i.e.,1day=$2, 2days=$3, 3days=$4 etc.) there would be no incentive for them to ever bring it back. You would be basically selling DVDs at a very low price
So charge by the day. Who wouldn't pay $1/day for a dvd rental? I don't think your point is valid, since adding an incentive to return the movie is easy.
The idea is fine. I'd think a more valid concern is licensing agreement between the store and the studio. Sure there's going to be a few glitches that need to be worked out, that goes with introducing change. It seems worth it to me.
Disposable dvds are assinine. Here's a better idea for how to handle rentals:
Each rental store should have a big stock of dvd-rw media and single copies of each movie they store on dvd. When somebody wants to rent a movie, the store copies the disc and sends the customer on their way (they'll keep a cache of burned ones so you needn't wait). Since it's only a copy, they just need to return the disc the next time they come in for more movies. The beauty of it is that if it's on dvd, they can rent it to you, they never run out of stock. It's about time stores started using some of the technological advantages of this medium.
You have a family history of clincal depression and decided to have children anyway? Why? If you really do believe your condition is genetic rather than environmental, wtf are you doing producing kids that'll also be predisposed to such problems? Do you want them to have to take prozac so they can move and speak? You might have the ability and right to reproduce like anybody else, but it's a cruel thing to do.

NOTE: Modifications to any of the components in this kit will void the user's authority to operate this equipment.
WTF? Is this not my x10 module?
