First off: "If I go to the airport, I can buy a coach standby ticket or a first-class ticket," Smith said. "In the shipping business, I can get two-day air or six-day ground."
I'm pretty sure that comparison isn't really the same. Obviously these services are more "consumer side" in which we decide whether we want to have faster shipping or better seats on a flight. I suppose you could draw a parallel by saying that the company could force you to do faster shipping or a better seat vs. no seat at all.
Secondly, this seems like the sort of thing that a free market economy fixes. First off ISP aren't exactly a pure monopoly by any means, I would venture to say very few areas have exclusively BellSouth as an ISP. This simply allows consumers to choose which service they would want to use; the only situation where this might not work is if all ISPs adopted such a plan, but even then there are laws against massive collusion for profit.
I'm sorry but, what movie were you watching? Neo stopped the sentinels as explained by "he is the one so part of his essence is inside the matrix and therefore part of the machine world.
While the answer to how did Smith entire bane isn't answered, he got so powerful because the Matrix/Architect was trying to balance the matrix, granted he was really powerful.
Yes the focus is on Zion, however, as stated in reloaded, they were freeing people like crazy (refer to Morpheus' speech in the second movie). The machines were fairly justified to try and wipe Zion out and to that end it made sense that they needed to protect Zion. Not to mention at the very end of Revolutions the architect does say that he would free the minds of those who wanted to be free. (I definitely think that implies that the movies care)
Ok for the humanity, did you not watch Reloaded? everyone was a hardass, "Look I can beat the crap out of you." But Revolutions but things back in check, in cases such as Neo's scene in the train station when he runs in a loop, or at the very end, when Smith is all torn apart and going crazy "IT'S NOT FAIR!!!"
No one is freed? see statement above. The idea that Trinity must die in Revolutions is very important, without that I don't think Neo really could have just gone and given himself up. And it puts the twist that he did it for love. (not to mention it doesn't exactly say that Neo dies)
Now that's not to say there weren't bad points in the movie, the worst one coming to mind is the sky. They fly up through a thunder/electricity storm, 2 things come to mind, A. do the machines not know of rubber? they could have easily ran a tube up through the atmosphere to get solar power, B. IT'S AN ELECTRICAL STORM, hello? electricity!!!
Overall I like the third movie, the last fight scene took me back to the days of DBZ, however, the stuff they did on the ground wasn't physics defyingly crazy which was nice.
Don't knock the movie so much, it was pretty good, and I liked the way things turned out because it filled in what needed to be filled in but didn't overdo it.
While I see this function as useful, I'd still prefer a more old school but higher quality approach to my video. I did a short "film" for a class on a Sony Digital 8 camcorder and the functionality and the quality are simply incredible. However I usually end up editing it and scale it down to divx, however then the quality becomes for in my control. The article also fails to mention what the bitrate and such of the audio and video are going to be for the recording... However assumin the price is realistic I'll probably get one just for the please of being able to play MPEG-4 on my TV without a messy interface between my laptop and a whole bunch of cords... I'd truly appreciate it if someone would come out with a semi-affordable set top divx unit lest I am forced to create on for myself.
I'm not sure as fare as lightning, however for hail, rain, and snow, because of the way physics works they reach their terminal velocity fairly quickly and therefore won't "speed up" by the time they reach the land. Snow shouldn't be larger because of the way clouds work and how at a certain developmental stage it will reach a weight that allows it to escape and fall. However as fair as the air carriers comment goes, I do agree with you, and I fear for the ever increasing airfare... it's time for amtrak to lower it's fares:)
I am enrolled at a boarding school, 10-12 grade, we have strict rules about you can do and cannot do. One of the things you can't do is break the city curfew, some of the others include not walking off campus without permission to see Episode 2 My roommate decided to disregard these rules and walk to our local theater for the midnight showing, it's maybe 3-4 miles away, and you turn left once and walk and your are there. He decides that the best way to get to the movie theater is to walk in the wrong direction, get lost, and call me to get directions. Little did he know that many of our "resident counselors" (people who tell us what to do) had been looking for him. He decides at 12:00 that he was going to give up and come back, and tried to use his mad "counterstrike" skillz to dodge the security guard, and needless to say he gets caught, now he's looking at expulsion Now I ask you, what would you be willing to do to have gone to see Star Wars at midnight? and Would you have done something as stupid as my roommate?
note I am not bashing escaflowne because I'm a hardcore anime fan and I really like escaflowne the movie
however my real comment is that I don't know if that anime is really being presented to the public that it's unknown to, sure escaflowne is a great series and movie, but what about Ah My Goddess the Movie, a fairly unknown anime in the US, cept in Samgoody stores...
Or such other obscure anime that has a following online, but rairly are they able to communicate with other anime fans in person. there are so many good specials and series out there, but they don't get watched because the networks decided that they need to kill the plot by cutting scenes and screwing up translations. the massive amount of following around Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) after its big release is one of the only ways a show seems to get following, because the majority of people won't shell out for the dvd's cause they may not like them and the networks are to scared to show them
Seeing as how GITS came out before Matrix I'd find that really hard to believe, I am greatly dissapointed that the maxtrix did not give any credit to GITS, you can even see the STARTLING similarities between them:
The opening credits of GITS has the greenish font and scrolling letters....
The first sceen, well kinda, is the exact same as the "birth" sceen in the matrix
Plugging into the computer... all of that... don't get me started
Yes I too had this problem when I watched the series the first time on Card Captors
The demographic that 75% males watch it shouldn't imply that change must be made to watch CCS, The story itself up to the point of episode 45, the end of the first season, "in theory," the story of CCS was based on the fact the Li wanted to totally compete with Sakura for the Cards, and then after that they start working together towards a common goal, and towards the end of the series, they fall in love.... that story isn't one that more boys will watch then girls would... I don't see the real reason to change the story or even the voice acting, are the majority of the kids who watch anime incapable of reading?? just get rid of the bad NA dubbing and uses japanese and subtitles

Your correct in your assumptions, anime has been really pg-ified for the american audience, however why do the cable and sateliette networks feel that the demographics of anime watchers ar limited to 5-13 -- a little iffy at that.
Online I belong to a fairly big anime community on irc however the majority of the people I chat with are not 5-13, they are college students, some are past college, with real jobs and real lives however they still go crazy when the next NA dvd of Card Captor Sakura comes out, or sign up obsessively for the NA release of Love Hina (also a manga transformation, note the manga has a lot more sexual content). It seems that the companies who screen the releases for the NA are trying to change the story toooo much. As a student of japanese I shudder to hear when someone translates Duo's line in Gundam Wing, as I am the great destroyer (real quote I am the god of death), or even when someone goes into a store and asks for the new "Cardcaptors" dvd, it seems that they've decided that they should just completely ignore the creators initial intent when creating the story, the language really does speak for itself
Final Fantasy Spirits Within Anime?

I was reading along the article whne I come upon the words "...released "The Spirits Within," an elaborate computer- animated episode of the long-running "Final Fantasy" series..."
Now while the much older animated final fantasy "movie," final fantasy legends, might have actually been considered an anime for it's plot and graphics, I, as an anime fanatic, have troubles picturing this great technologically advanced picture as true anime. It seems that anything that comes out of japan that's animated immediatly gets but down as anime. However I believe that the concentration on plot and characters as opposed to the true "animation" part of anime is where anime gets it's tremendous backing and I think it's a shame that FF: The Spirits Within, has been catagoriezed in that genre...
wow, you totally ignored the fact that I wasn't using spdif, but DIGITAL OPTICAL!!!, that makes all the difference doesn't it, yes I know the spdif quality isn't great, but the digital optical is perfect copy
Most sound systems have digital optical out hooked up to their cd players, and with digital optical in (which I have on my live drive II) you can get perfect quality copies of the song easily, unfortunately the downside to this is that with digital optical out you must play the entire song...
after installing the hardware force each student to render his or her computer over and force them do reformat with a norton ghost image
The whole individuality thing is way overrated
The part that I was refering to was the part about stunted organ growth, what good is it if you pay $3000 to make a clone, just to find out that the clone doesn't have that heart, or liver...?
Weren't people going to clone a wierd hybrid headless human to take its organs...?, I think that's the major thing thats going to be set back, so if you were counting on that cloned liver, you better stop drinking now...
I think the entire idea of free isps is good but 1stup.com is stupid. Did anybody notice that when exicte realsed their "Free ISP Service" it turns out to the be the same as the Simpsons one. "WOW" Also what the heck is that "health meter" at the side, "Refill by clicking an ad"? Whats stupid is that most of these services say 56k free. When sometimes I get 19k. If anyone has used netzero, one of my friends has "cracked" it so now there is no bar with ads. Goes to show you that "Free ISPS" will make no money or lose it.
