There are current astrophysical models which postulate that the Universe is a hyperplane embedded in higher dimensional space, called Randall-Sundrum models. In which case gravity can propagate trasverse to this plane, hence there can be matter outside the Universe which can still interact with it. There is also the idea that this 'brane' (as it is called - nothing to do with zombies) has a small extra dimension (less than 1mm in size) so the current gravitational law needs to be changed to r^{-4} or so at very short distances.
String theory as such tends not to comment on dark matter (could be D0-particles, could be fish) as no-one knows how to compactify it down from 10D and break supersymmetry in a useful way.
After attending a Steve Vai concert I wandered home in a happy (though slightly deaf) daze. Got home, put on some more Vai to wind down. Within about 30 seconds I had to turn it off because it just couldn't compare to what I had just heard. A couple of weeks later, with the memory gradually fading, the CD returned to its former glory. Artists often compile their best performances from a number of concerts and release these as 'Live' albums - in my mind we should leave this kind of thing to those who know best. And since when have concerts lasted less than 80 minutes?
Once you record onto digital format, making more copies is trivial, so certain rampaging well-funded groups of fools, sorry, _organisations_, might have a thing or two to say about it...
All you have to do is attach a big bungee rope to the moon, and tether the other end on the Eiffel tower. Simple, efficient and you could charge a fortune for rides!
