    The problem is that the spammers are not part of the government, ergo, the only actual *people* with access to that massive cyberforce are precicsely the ones that would only use it for nefarious purposes. It's just as if a bunch of bank robbers raided the SWAT armory.

    Of course, the failure and/or refusal of said government to intervene may itself speak volumes.

    Having externalities in the hardware cause in-game effects is IMHO a cheese.

    It's as bad as having a loading screen, just with the wall breakage going the other direction.

    Game doesn't break into reality, so reality shouldn't break into game.

    That would assume the bot had an uninstall function.

    I doubt a computer hijacker would make it easy for a botnet to be removed, let alone let it be able to uninstall itself.

    Personally I would rather have loading screens.

    Call me an oddball, but I rather like knowing what my hardware's up to.

    Furthermore, having a "Loading" screen to remind you that you're still in the real world gives you time to take a short break, take a piss, get a snack, etc...

    I would think that a modest fee would be loads cheaper than the standard settlement.

    They have to get revenue SOMEWHERE to both feed the payroll and get the patents.

    What would you rather have instead of loading screens?

    Expect the devs to be such good engineers that they are not needed in the first place?

    Have the game FREEZE while data gets loaded?

    Hardware has it's limitations.

    There's no such thing as painlessly harvesting flesh from an animal. Either they feel it anyway, or they become crippled, or otherwise. Besides, it's damage that needs to heal.

    The main quality IMHO about plants is that you can eat them without hurting them.

    I feel I should point out that the 4th amendment isn't meant so much to protect the rights of the accused, but rather, to punish the government and keep it in line when it conducts prosecutions.

    The two are close, but not the same.

    For instance, if you have a habit of stealing, and you get hit by a burglar and your hot goods get nicked, the government can still go after you for stealing, even though it didn't get the evidence through a warrant.

    This is why, even though Palin's (or whoever it was)'s emails were hacked and snooped, she didn't get to keep them a secret even after they were ILLEGALLY hacked.
