Your missing the point, if a developer wants to distrbute an applicaion to the end users and can make a bundle and distribute to all users instead of having to making availalbe multiple version for multiple OS/Platforms that would get more developers on our side!
So because you want to feel better about yourself about only using traditional open source distributed applications, we should all suffer by having less comercially avialble applications? Why is it always one or the other why can we not have both?
This is exactly the attitude that hurts linux, you should not assume with your nose up in the air that just because we "can" compile everything from scratch that we all want to.
In this tough economic time, with unemployment approaching 10% (in the U.S.), let me be the first to say FUCK YOU! Seriously, guys, what the hell is the matter with you? You honestly want to brag about what you're making as an intern and that you have damn good odds of getting hired? Assholes.

Seriously? You would prefer everyone get paid minimum wage I suppose after they worked there A$% off in school to make something of themselves?
I am so fed up with the attitude around here, every single time anyone here posts anything that differs from the mob of people who want everything exactly there way they are a troll. Get over your selves, the previous post is not a troll, and states the facts. FACTS not outlandish opinions.
Just my two sense, mod me into oblivion as always.
I don't want to stream my bloody media using a "browser" I don't want to use the web to view my content. For sure this will not work with my current setup, nor will it work with anyone who is not MS i'm sure (TFA links to a "microsoft bitplayer"?) screw that.
I have had one constant problem (the slow keyboard in SMS occasionally (resolved by force quitting the sms app and restarting). I have not had any of the issues relating to signal or dropped calls. I just tried here at the office (where cell signal is horrible) I was able to make a call with out any problems on 1 bar of signal with 3G, edge is also no problem. Could this be a problem with hardware differences on the towers?
Seriously, they are doing the customer nor anyone any good. Apple does not play to the "lowest common denominator manufacturing" for good reason too, because there is no money in it and they could not survive. So what if they manage to make clones that are cheeper now what happens when they basically run Apple out of business or out of the computer business and we no longer have our systems that we love? So #$%#$%# what if you managed to save a few dollers on your next apple so you could feel better about yourself and thumb your nose. So you could say "because I want to and have the freedom to" oh bull, and when you turn around later on and we are back to only PC's as a choice. If they want to make PC's make bloody PC's, but I hope they get run into the ground where they belong.
Say what? Will someone please explain to me in detail how this is modded as troll? I explained in great detail with facts to back up my response? This is not a personal attack lol, people need to grow up and get a thicker skin.
I'm running, a powerbook g4 1.67 15 inch, with 1.5 gig, and i also have a G4 AGP (upgraded with accelerator card to 1.6 ghz) So I would say I am running it on 2 different G4's. I currently use my laptop to develop java applications/other coding for school projects, and regularly have all 6 of my spaces completely packed with applications ranging from Jedit, MS Office, many instances of both safari, and firefox, various im clients, mail, itunes, vpn client, and various other apps i use. So i would say that i am not lightly using my system (oh i play WOW as well, and noticed no different in FPS between 10.4.x and 10.5.x).
The first thing i noticed when i installed the beta, is that everything seems more responsive, and snappier, there is no longer the long delays and freezes in doing many things (some of which involve major fixes i think to do with shares and networking). This has continued now with the official release. I can not comment on actual ram usuage till i get a chance to boot into my backup firewire with 10.4 on it, but i can say that applications just seem more snappy, and that is further echoed at the college i work with part time in there mac labs, and mac tech support department. The only problem they have seen crop up seems to do with network logins, which we have not been able to duplicate reliably as of yet.
So sorry if my previous message was so short, and with out explanation, but i repeat my previous comments, i do not see any slow down, and I'm not even running the latest and greatest hardware.
I have run leopard , on my powerbook for months in beta, and now the official, release, and it is/faster/ not slower. I am not sure what you are doing wrong.
You know, i like linux just about as much as the next guy, but sheesh this reminds me of the attitude that people are so often complaining about Apple fans, everyone has there own opinion, and what suits them best, and some people work differently, there is no end all for everyone. Mine happens to be I like linux for most of my server purposes, but it does not suit my day to day desktop needs. That does not mean that i feel it is inferior, because obviously it suits your needs just fine.
2. Expose is more important on Macs than Windows. I've used MAc and Windows for years, and Mac has always had a much greater tendency to end up with windows all over the place for some reason. Apple HAD to create Expose to fix that Mac-unique problem.
----
That is complete falsehood, every-time i use a windows system, i end up missing Expose, maybe because i'm not used to having every window maximized like I see on most windows, I do more than one thing at once, you know multi-task.
Am I missing something, exactly which 800mhz system is not upgradable by a $200 card? I bought a powermac g4 400mhz for like $250 and recently upgraded it to a 1.6ghz for under $200.
As i found out after attempting to install on a 400mhz g4, all you have to do is boot the older system into target disk mode and install from a faster mac, so as long as you have 2 macs you are fine.
I do not understand why linux can not be both reliable and "geeky" and at the same time apeal to the mainstream. Why can we not make it work reliably without hassel of editing config files for non techy users, and still leave the option if you want to do that? The idea that you can not have one with out the other is why windows sucks. Ease of use and configurability can coexist, you can have the options hidden under the surface, as long as you do not block what is under the surface completely and only hide it from those who do not wish to see it. If the mindset of the "linux has to remain hard to use" to stay linux does not change it will fail miserably to do both!
I have used just about every flavor of linux, bsd, OS/2, windows, Mac OS X, and I want the operating system to work for me, and not make me work for it. I think i have anice balance here with OS X, as i can make it do just about anything i want, but i also do not have to worrie about if this driver or that piece of hardware is going to work. I think the idea that just because my computer doesn't make me jump through hoops to make something work the way I want it to does not in any way make it less configurable. Ive used ubuntu and I have installed it for my mom, and it she was able to use it no problem with little or no computer experience, other than a little windows. This is why it is succesfull, and also because I use it for my routers in my house (granted the server edition) but same concept. I do not use it for my desktop because I still don't think it is quite where i need it for my uses, but that is a/personal/ choice. Everyone's needs and wants are different, trying to say one operating system is better than another is just plain silly, beacause what might be good for you, might be compleetly wrong for someone else. And like the pervious states, the whole it has to be hard for it to be elite is equally stupid, come on, it's a computer, the operating system does not limit what you can code, it's all code, and frankly the more restrictive the system, means that perhaps it takes/more/ skills to get it to do exactly what you want. There is nothing elite about being able to edit config files or compling a kernel. Having said that, there is also nothing wrong with it!
Let's see everyone seems to think that you should be able to use your ipod to copy your music from one computer to another(or to another person) get real, all this bitching and whining is about that. I'm sorry, I used to download all my music from various places, yeah you know what i'm talking about. Lets see what is the alternative, oh yeah thats right, if it were not for apple we would be forced to use Windows Media (or worse zune based players) and if you think that your ogg/mp3 players would have stood up to MS assult if it were not for apple's ipod, you are smoking something.
So lets do the math, deal with some limited restrictions or be stuck with one company and no competition, if you do not want the ipod, do not buy the ipod, how hard is that, if you do not like the way they set it up, don't use it, other wise quit bitching.
-sick of the bickering.
And what happens when in 10 years you can only purchase media through some Microsoft site, because they have the industry so locked into there content protection scheme? COME on wake up and smell the coffee, MS did not do it for the Media companies, they did it for their own bottom line. Do you seriously think they would go through all this trouble if it did not help them some way?!

Not touching vista or any future MS operating system with a 10 foot pole.
It is exactly that kind of attitude that is a problem. Sorry, but if we do not have individuals who are willing to risk blowing the whistle on the government when they do something wrong then this country is SCREWED. It is a sad day when you can be thrown in jail for exposing something our obviously corrupt government is doing. Whether there is a law to support them or not, and the attitude that oh well it is made illegal by this law, well maybe they should have thought about that before THEY did the deed in the first place. Our government is here to serve us , not the other way around, and our government MUST BE held accountable. Just because our current Executive branch thinks they are above the law does not make it so.
