Build with just Ctrl-B, buggy lines are highlighted - so comfortable. I bet Anjuta + Code::Blocks do this too, but what made these a no-go was that I needed a autocomplete for structs. stp->[Ctrl-Space] or st.[Ctrl-Space] Afaik Anjuta and Code::Blocks only support autocomplete if you have already written at least one character.
Eclipse is pretty awesome for C aswell: Automatic Code formatting, resolving macros (and even respect them in auto-formatting). Yeah and what every other does: Ctrl-Click on functions to jump there, project tree, file outline, etc.
But at the end of the day, you'll still have to think and write the code yourself:-)
A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. You're right on enforcing that weakest link (hard drives getting lost, reset questions), but there is no reason to loosen the others.
Is existing GFDL content compatible with the CC licence?
I think (please correct me) what they did was write a GFDL version compatible with the CC. Then they upgraded the licence of the existing content and thus now they can switch over to CC.
I'd read the article, but it's slashdotted:-[
Why can't individual contributors choose their licence like they can with Flickr?
Wikipedia is not a blog. It would become a format like urbandictionary.com or everything2.com: no rewriting and collaborating on content, rather single statements of various truthiness.
GNU FDL was chosen as CC was not available at the time. Now CC has additionally become an accepted standard with a lot of material out there. It is great news as this makes it easier to mix content from and to their projects.
1 Mozilla uses Javascript for all addons, so I guess they have some idea of it.
2 You can't program native UI-Elements with Greasemonkey, and even if, they would live inside the website as Greasemonkey is more for "patching" existing websites. Browser addons should survive a website navigation.
This thing seems to have some horrible mess of intermixed Javascript, CSS, and HTML.
Or what if you do a ssh-rsync backup every day? I mean the attacker has the time...
That is not unrealistic. Furthermore, the risk is unknown, as it is also determined by the value of your data, not only by the likelihood of a successful attack.
Or, in other words, I would not pursue you for copyright infringement in the event I ever actually get a copyright for the works you find, that may or may not be created by me.
I'm not that familiar with the US legal system, but can't anyone sue for copyright infringement?
I'm not saying you can't get yourself into trouble with inappropriate use of memcpy(3), but buffer overruns aren't the go-to threat every time.
Didn't we already defeat the goto threat?
More to the point, if the developer doesn't know what memcpy does and how to use it correctly... I mean... You might aswell write the 3 lines of code behind memcpy yourself.
A button in Adblock would be cool to show seldom in one corner of the website to say "Support this site". Then it would download the ads but not show them (or optionally show them [or optionally click them]). Your favorite sites would get more income. My browser knows what sites I've been to often, no extra tag necessary.
As far as I know, most people don't use ad-blocking, so the ad companies won't get weird ideas to circumvent that.
Dot-Communism is better then Dot-Netism?
Uh, what I forgot:

Have any identities* under MD5 or SHA1/256/512 been discovered yet? I'd be really interested in those!
*(where hash = md5(hash))
Why? You can already disable blink, javascript, images and many more "standard" elements.
And replace it with Silverlight.
Hehe, seriously, how would you make all those fancy movie websites, e.g. http://www.everybodypays.com/
There is no way around flash (certainly not with CSS/HTML/JS) for certain forms of representation.

This is called the web.
And in other news it also appears that the word "chink" is banned in the comments section.
Interesting. Someone should submit a story!

Also, PDF is a ISO standard aswell (ISO 32000-1:2008).
There is no such thing as a smart missile unless it immediately destroys itself safely.
"sudo still requires CLI". Yes, but we have gksu and kdesu. I've been using it for years.
I think the author is missing a comfortable GUI for configuration.
Hence the reference to 4.:
4. It should be possible to configure everything via GUI which is still not a case for too many situations and operations.
Java is slow
You can't patent Apache 2.0 licensed stuff.
Also, you can't patent software*.

I don't feel represented by the available parties
In that case, you should vote invalid to state that your right to vote is important to you and that you care about having a democracy.
However, I'd like to see the list you gave as additional options on ballots.

What would you do with 12 million Canadians?
Actually a PC system (http://simpc.nl/) created especially for the elderly is based on Linux (Gentoo to be precise).
I imagine updating will be fun for them.
[I use gentoo myself and it is awesome, yet not for everyone.]
What Can I Do About Book Pirates?
Hire book ninjas!

At some point they will lease you the phone and no company will sell the hardware.
