I am both a female and a gamer and I think this topic is both insane and intriguing.
In my experience, playing as a female usually leads to getting more help (in the form of advice on how to play, or in some cases gold) than what few times I've attempted to play male characters. I can see why that might be appealing to some guys.
It is outrageous though to think that if this catches on I would have to go through some lengthy registration process that could be drawn out hours, days or weeks until they could get around to verifying my gender. I think that many females would actually take the easy route and just play as males simply for its ease. Customizing a character in some MMOs takes a long enough time without being "scrutinized".
Oh, if you think your system was slow now....
If they started letting it be free, I can't imagine how much muck they'd claim was "justified" to offset the price you should be paying to use their 'wonderful' software.
You try to run s simple game of solitaire: "Hey! You like this game? We have 50 billion other card games you could play, just give us your credit card, SSN, first born child..."
Saying I can not visit a site because I use Firefox is like saying I can not walk into a store or office because I might not buy anything. I have to agree wholeheartedly with you on that. How many people are willing to go to a store with an annoying salesperson sitting over your shoulder, pushing everything in sight into your basket? That is roughly the same thing being done when flashing, dizzying, and in some cases head-ache or nausea inducing ads bombard you while you're trying to absorb information on a website. I have a tendancy to stop going to certain sites if/when ads make me grab for the pain killers.
The folks in the 'M' category are usually the ones who are earning the money. Sure, we buy the games for the little ones, too, but we enjoy a good game as well. And let's face it, the games we play most are the ones with exploding heads and scantily clad girlies.
Usage statistics are the only ones any web developer should care about, I have IE installed, because it came with Windows, so I'm assuming that my IE is part of those market share statistics, but I do all my browsing with Firefox, so as far as I can see, this is useless information. Correct me if I'm wrong. You also forget that people must run IE for certain things, such as updating Windows.
Possible he was thinking of snakes.
Not to mention the DHMO they're smuggling in their bodies when they leave orbit! For shame. They should be forced to drink pee steam!
I suddenly feel bad for everyone patching their games, too. WoW comes to mind immediately. *shudder*

Where do you think chopsticks came from? Confucious said knifes and forks were killing tools, and thus they were banned from the eating table.
And from Music! And video games (ie. that terrible All Your Base quote)! Let's just ban all ideas and call it a day.
