immersion is a patent troll. Just like SCO, Microsoft has invested in companies that are suing MS competitors.

"kicking and screaming" implies Sony was wrong. They were right, and everyone who is fair knows it. Patent cases in East Texas are unfair, and microsoft has learned how to use that system to abuse. You come across like a rabid hater of all things Sony, which is of course pretty common these days. I'm sure there is plenty of legit stuff to bash sony over without kicking and screaming yourself over something like this. The PS3 just got better.

Sony fought a PR war and a court battle, and they lost both. But Sony comes out ahead in my book for fighting patent trolls. I wish all companies went out on a limb to make patent troll life harder.

  2. Let's get one thing straight on List of PS3 Titles Compatible With Rumble Controller · · Score: 1

Sony was fighting a patent troll. They didn't leave rumble out by choice, they left it out because a Microsoft funded Immersion was suing them for using rumble that Immersion did not create.

Sony lied that they couldn't figure out how to use rumble and motion sense because they had to put lipstick on a pig. That's lame, but it's unavoidable. You can't expect them to have actually said "yeah, it sucks... no rumble".

Now the lawsuit was settled, sony lost and Microsoft is richer... yay. And sony is the bad guy for finally getting around to rumble? Not really. Sony was too confident and goofed (as usual). But Immersion and Microsoft are the bad guys here.

That doesn't make the 360 any less of a great system (best one right now), but it's going to SUCK if MS becomes dominant. Sony dominated and it doesn't seem to have hurt Nintendo in the long run at all. Mark my words: that will not be the case if MS ever dominates this industry.

For the time being, I'm happy I waited to get extra controllers and happier still that my PS2 games will finally get rumble.

It's much harder to control the dragon than if you had a stick, but that's a major plus. When you ride an animal, you can't just manipulate the analog stick, you have to lean and push, etc, and sometimes that's not super easy.

The parent post just pointed out that this review was too lazy to even spell the central character's simple name correctly, much less take any time at all to learn how to play a novel game. All games shouldn't be identical little clones of eachother, and that applies to every aspect. I am sick and tired of 'leftstick-strafe, rightstick-view'.

Lair is a terrific game for those patient and open minded enough to step away from their FPS.

Sony could reduce the size of the analog stick that moved to dpad location. I believe this would be a better controller, but aside from that I love how sony hasn't screwed much with their controller since they ripped off the SNES controller. Now, they have a real brand image that looks nice and cool.

But if it were really this much of an enhancement, why don't I see a logitech PS3 controller in this configuration? I suspect that in practice you might be right about the analog sticks needing to be symmetrical.

I would love it if the battery were user replaceable and the unit recharged, but I'd pick the PS3 controller over the wiimote any day of the week... swapping batteries is usually lamer than recharging, and the PS3 controller doesn't die if you recharge it on a regular basis.

Anyway, the parent isn't that far off from what most folks think.

360s have the best games. The best online content. And the worst reliability. It's also the most expensive console (this is an opinion, but I've certainly spent more on my 360 than my PS3 without counting games).

The idea that a buyer of one console is a loser because he values the games over reliability (or he made a mistake in choice) is just ludicrous. Thank God every car is not a Honda Accord. We need variety even at the expense of perfection. Your desire to see one platform destroy the others as evinced by demonizing people who have different preferences is just pathetic.

People who treat other people unfairly, hurt people, who lie, etc... are losers. People who work hard and come home to play a game they personally wanted are what makes the world fun. This weird fanboy fight thing reflects on you, not on the people enjoying their products. But for the 360 the PS3 would be crap and vice versa. But for the PS2, there would be no Wii. But for the N64 the PS1 would not have been so full of variety. You should love the fact that people are buying the 360, even if you play a different platform. Even PCs benefit a hell of a lot from console gaming.

The Nintendo is full of rehashed titles (done very well for the most part), Sony isn't full of rehashed titles but I really wish it were (GT:5 MGS:4 FFXIII will all be the best games on that system).
