You could use integrated GPUs for vector/matrix math, something they're a lot better at than the x86 core, thus greatly increasing the efficiency of certain workloads.
You don't have to use them only for making pretty pictures.
Drivel. I learnt to touch-type on my school's Apple//cs when I was twelve. Those were full-sized (for the day) and I coped just fine, so did the rest of the class.
500-some fucking votes in one state and we wouldn't have had Iraq, or faith-based programs getting government money, maybe not even the Patriot Act and that incompetence that allowed the business with the skyscrapers and Pentagon.
Blacks haven't had a good reason to vote Republican ever since Nixon's Southern Strategy that courted conservative racist whites.
I rather suspect they liked the Republicans back in the day, party of Lincoln and all that [1], but when LBJ pushed civil rights all the racist socially-conservative southern Dems went GOP and here we are.
[1] but in the South, at least, they generally were prevented from voting through intimidation, poll taxes, intelligence tests, etc.
Can't do that. Missouri's still a swing state and it's more important to vote against Republicans than it is for my favorite longshot third party to win, which they wouldn't thanks to how the system's set up.
By which you mean he wasn't willing to pander to the "jesus jesus tax cuts for the rich" base and actually tried to be an intelligent adult.
I don't agree with the man's positions and would still vote for Obama over him, but his problem was that he's too honorable and rational to fit in with the Republican Party.
It is unutterably hilarious how people (mostly fringe libertarians) read their own ends into the entirely neutral observation I made. Not just the commenters, but the moderators who voted me down "overrated" as well.
This is why we can't have a sane adult discussion about guns in this country.
Doesn't say they don't have to be either. It'll be another one of those things they didn't foresee back then; no serial numbers on muskets in part because mass production hadn't been invented yet.
On the Windows side I think it'll be Real Soon Now that AAA games start shipping with 64-bit executables so they can use all that RAM, especially when XP stops being supported.
Pfft. Apple is notorious for deprecating old APIs. If you want API stability, you basically use Windows - it's not perfect, but it's the best of the three at that.
Yeah. Moses had the Pharoah convinced to let him & the Israelites leave at least twice, then his god decided to force P's mind to change so he could keep torturing the Egyptian people (and ultimately committing mass murder), basically to prove to everyone how powerful he was.
It's not like the Hebrew god was especially righteous/either/. Demanding constant blood sacrifices, saying that if you disrespect your parents you should be killed, condoning murdering and enslaving outsiders or anyone he was annoyed with that day.
What I don't get are the people who think that being is worthy of respect.

Pfft. They'd abuse it like the "story" tag that gets put onto non-stories all the time.
a real tech web site (like Kuro5hin),
Kill yourself.
Line-number BASIC is Evil(tm). It's a pity none of those old bitty boxes had anything better in ROM.
Maybe some x86 box that you configure to boot up to a Python interpreter? Or Forth?

I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes!

LILO had error messages? If you call getting to LIL a message, I suppose.
...and now your system is broken because you didn't read Arch's web page religiously.
Fuck that noise. I want a building-block system, I'll run Debian Testing or Ubuntu Server.
To some people it certainly does, to judge by the panty-twisting about Chrome's and Firefox's version numbers.

I gave up on MacPorts years ago because too frequently a package I wanted depended on another (or it would depend on another) that wouldn't compile.
Just for kicks I tried it again a little over a year ago and it still had that sort of problem.
It's not uncomfortable. It's really not /anything/, not painful, not ticklish.
It's the done thing, I guess. Most men here are circumcised.
IIRC it's the Old Testament that required a male be circumcised, so it's only binding on Jews. No such requirement in the New.
Lampshades?
Actually, /yes/, a lot of California is Republican. The whole middle of the state, for instance.

Recharging 10 gallons worth of electric is always going to take a lot longer than filling my car up with gas
There is a world market for at most five computers.
