you obviously don't believe what others tell you, even when they are seasoned systems level software engineers who have written both Windows and Linux device drivers professionally
You have an interesting definition of 'seasoned'. I guess just about anyone can become a codemonkey these days.
Here's a revolutionary thought: Cite sources or show some sort of supporting research when you make claims about something. Otherwise, nobody has any reason to take you seriously. Any 'professional' should be perfectly ok with that.
I was going to write something about how my Linux installations last about as long as my Vista ones before something goes wrong, but I just can't get past your magical powerless computer. How do you do it?
It bears repeating because of all the stupid people who tried to run Vista on hardware that even XP would shudder at, then complained that it didn't work or was too slow. Ugh.
Before someone yells "Oh my, you could compare the rise of aids cases to lost sales and your graph would look the same" just shut up ok? Just shut the fuck up because you're another useless slashdot tool spouting the same "I HAVE A RIGHT TO STEAL OTHERS WORK" retoric that I've read on this fucking site for the last 10 years. There is a direct correlation between piracy and lost sales, I've seen it. Grow up.
I'm now beginning to feel suspicious of the possibility that you may have an agenda.
Are you serious? I can build a perfectly fine PC to run Vista for around $600. I don't know if you've heard, but Vista has been out for a long time already, hardware has improved, prices have gone down. The cheapest (new) Macbook is $1200, twice that price. So, no, it is actually very, very easy to buy a PC cheaper than a Mac. Hell, some of the most powerful PC laptops are cheaper than the cheapest Macbook.
Ooh, he said PEOPLE in ALL CAPS for EMPHASIS. He must be super serious. Quick! Let's all be super serious too, so all of the other super serious people talking about this super serious issue don't stone us!
Humans don't really change that much in that little time. I'm willing to bet that we as a species will find a way to make things work, the same way we always have, regardless of this entire farce.
Jesus Christ, if I hear the phrase "Where's the hype?" one more time I'm going to kill a yak.
For every example you can come up with, I can come up with a counter-example. The difference between us is I have nothing that I feel the need to prove, repeatedly, in the most annoying way possible. So I won't.
For the record, I feel KDE4 has a lot of potential.
It isn't a rush to market; Windows 7 is right on schedule. It seems somewhat shorter because Vista was delayed for so long and came long behind schedule.
The fact that you can talk about how "crippling" the ribbon interface was for you (which was very well-received at the university I work at, by staff and students alike) while also touting the ease-of-use of LaTeX says a lot more about you than anything else... You are probably right about retraining fees next to licensing fees, though.
Wow, you seethe with bitterness. Let me guess--your girl left you for a Linux user?

Read what I said, dumbass.

Sorry, rent-a-tech, better luck next time.
It's bad enough that I had to put up with pointless shit like this from the idiot teachers in High School, and now this is becoming official?
Pi day? Really? You just happen to celebrate the alignment of a set of three numbers? Who the hell cares?

Wow, you must be from the Fecal school of art.
This, this, this. Dear Christ, I wish people would listen to this person.

This.
...new add-on...unrequested...unasked-for...hitchhiking...gone wider...coming in with updates...
God damn, ok, we get that you for some reason don't like .NET extensions in firefox, you don't have to beat us over the head with it.

God damn, I wish I had mod points to give you. This year has been my area's (Mid-Michigan) coldest year in recorded history.

Or maybe you really are just that out of touch.

Bullshit.
Refusing to believe testimony like this won't make it not true. My experience has been exactly the same as his.

No, she dropped out because she was an idiot. Dell was her scapegoat, and the Ubuntu was the news agency's scapegoat.
I haven't found Eclipse to be quite as good as Visual Studio in any respect, personally. At least it's free.
Right, for all of those times I tried to run my USB missile launcher from a VM. Those VirtualBox bastards! Now I'm losing the office wars!
They're still releasing new Radeons, and half the time they're better than nVidia's offerings, so yes, people still use them.
