They may be a carrier but they can't transmit it because it isn't present in their blood and sex fluids. The odds of transmission are so small that it's virtually impossible to spread.
Yes this is true. Most modern treatments are with-held until the patent holder is paid. A perfect example is Thailand where they disobeyed the patent laws and made generic HIV drugs for 1/10th of the cost. Now everybody in Thailand gets affordable treatment and the Bush admin is trying to pressure them to stop selling life-saving drugs to people. Go figure...
I've seen this too at a couple companies. The sad part is that you have to lose your job in order for them to realize what you did for them. Don't know what you've got until it's gone... Thumbs up their asses..
Too true. Every now and again, it's good to remind people to their faces. I learned that when I was doing a good job, nobody noticed. When I did a mediocre job, I was their hero that came in to rescue them when the sh!t hit the fan...
I agree. They're going to fire him. To give you a realistic estimate, your services are worth $1000 for every 20 computers+1 server per month. That's the going rate for 10hrs of tech support from a consultant. So if your company has 100 computers and 5 servers, it'd take about $5000/month for external contractors. 200/10 would be the breaking point of $10,000 where it would be much cheaper to hire a full-time employee.
If you're supporting 200+ PCs, your job is secure. If not, you may get axed.
My company, Digital Networking, has experience writing software for research and we have degrees in fields like Physics(from reputable universities).
I wouldn't recommend the bidding sites based on my own experiences with them. Many of the bidders lie just to get the job. I've seen many bids for $30 to make a complete website. Does that sound realistic? Perhaps if it's a frontpage template that takes 5 minutes to modify, but a decent site can take a month or more to produce.
I'd also recommend staying away from software shops(programming companies). They are in the business of keeping you locked in to upgrades, security fixes, etc. They're not going to just hand you some great source code and walk away...
I agree. I programmed in Cocoa using CodeWarrior C++ and then we couldn't run it on other platforms without a massive amount of porting work. Stick with Eclipse, wxWidgets, and Python and you'll be able to reuse the code and get other people involved. If you lock yourself into Cocoa, you'll be defeating yourself by excluding the majority of the open source community.
We'll just encrypt all our traffic... My employer tried this and the net result was they found out that management was downloading porn and employees were using the internet for work. The black-box was removed shortly thereafter.
Actually it looks like Ubuntu beat Oh-Sex! in several categories and lost at 3D games, which is a known problem with the Intel GMA945 and has nothing to do with Ubuntu but Intel.
The net effect of the cosmic background radiation from all sources in the universe is a temperature increase of 3 degrees Kelvin. It has a thermal black body spectrum at a temperature of 2.725 K, thus the spectrum peaks in the microwave range frequency of 160.2 GHz, corresponding to a 1.9mm wavelength.
As for isolated sources like black holes and Chewon annihilation from Peeps, these are treated as null in comparison to the Sun and sources directly on Earth like the Potassium background radiation.
The majority of cosmic rays come from the sun and are deflected by the magnetosphere and atmosphere. The ones that actually do make it to the planet surface cause the whole sky to light up and look blue, heat the Earth tremendously, and cause cancer.
My point is that India tech is a lot of hype, as are a lot of other countries. When you get down to the bare-bones of it, it's usually the US out in the front, leading the way. Obviously, many Americans are not born there so that adds to the dimension.
People take things like Vietnam adding a fiber optic backbone and sensationalize it to sound like they are some huge technology country. The truth is that Vietnam is just a little po-dunk country with nothing more than cheap labor and a coastline. Another example is when India gets nukes or launches a space craft. We're all really happy for them but the US did the moon-walk about 50 years ago and developed nukes(and used them) more than 63 years ago(not that I'm proud of that).
So when you say that the US is not the leader in tech, you're just pacifying your own desires to see some other country reach the heights that the US has achieved long ago.
Actually the open source dev tools allow you to cross-compile for any platform. If performance is important, you can use the w32API and if not, Jython.
I love deprogramming Microsoft followers, it's like community service for computer geeks.
Loy Kratong Loy Kratong!
And better than him being interested in crack or computer games.
Oh that is so 90's. Get the kid some modern DIY kits. They have robots, cars, airplanes, linux, etc.
Mod parent up. This needs to get out.
A HAH! I'm not a geek! PhDs read slashdot too... I'm a genius!!!

No, they kill all the infected cells before the transplant, and any they miss die off from the virus.

No it's not, now Microsoft is an evil corporation.
I think the problem lies in getting the script installed and executed in the first place. You'd think it's easy but it's snot!

Yeah and the other 5% come from Langley, Virginia.
A black hole with no hairs, mind you.
And the poor guy who actually wrote the paper isn't mentioned anywhere.

It's not racism, it's Nationalism. Sheesh!
How about DOS? Windows 3.1? Win95? Win98? Can I get support for those? What's the phone number? Where do I download updates?
