Its not unreasonable. But when that judgment makes the murderer unable to reenter society despite a courts decision that they are able to, it creates a social problem where the person might as well end up back in jail. While the fact that this is murder we're talking about certainly clouds that, it also proves the amount of social outrage against a murderer. If you want to make it easier to swallow, consider that sort of legislation in place regarding someone who committed vehicular manslaughter due to drunk driving.

I like you new guy, you don't RTFA and we take pride in that. Anyway a great deal of the dishonest practice wasn't the app itself as much as the advertisers attached to the app(chosen by the appmakers themselves). For example, Mafia wars would have you sign up for things to get poker chips or whatnot. These things you sign up for would then charge your cell phone. It wasn't Mafia Wars themselves that would charge your cell phone.

I believe the Judge feels the language is strong enough to bring the case to court, which would reveal the poster's identity anyway. This option allows her to find out who it was and decide not to press charges. I think the better discussion would not be if the case was strong, but if its right to give personal information that could avoid prosecution. I'm kind of feeling that it is. No sense in putting a loudmouth 13 year old through the legal ringer.

Actually, I'm not so sure if insane copyright encourages piracy because of what it does. It just gives a good justification. I obviously could be wrong, but I was under the impression that most copyright infringement occurs with materials that wouldn't come out of copyright even in a relatively conservative system. Short of being more convenient and comfortably priced, I don't see how eliminating mass copyright infringement is even possible. That said, the current system certainly is insane and needs to be changed.

I wish trademarks and copyrights weren't mixed so much. Trademarks can certainly be abused, but their purpose for being and the way they are abused is not consistent with copyrights. Also the opinion of anti-copyright folks is certainly not always anti-trademark. Trademark infringement is closer to fraud than it is to copyright infringement.

Yes, it completely divorces the immune system from the central nervous system. Capillaries go into the CNS, but you don't have things like white blood cells in there. This prevents a few things, normal body cells from destroying CNS cells for example. An immune cell destroying nerve cells would be very bad.

  21. Re:Ok, but why...? on Enzyme Found To Help Formation of New Axons · · Score: 1

I actually don't think so, but realize that what follows is purely conjecture. It works this way because the specialization and compartmentalization of the central nervous system is beneficial, without taking into account any sort of help to the herd. It prevents damage such as immune problems as well as making the complex central nervous system more efficient and easier to develop. These sort of advantages don't depend on the organism dying, but actually help avoid that outcome.

  22. Re:Evolutionary Advantage? on Enzyme Found To Help Formation of New Axons · · Score: 2, Informative

The Central Nervous system has its own types of cells called glial cells that are very specialized. These cells provide everything from an immune response to creating a framework for growing neurons. This is advantageous because one of the first structures to develop in an embryo is the central nervous system and having an enclosed environment keeps the CNS from having to deal with a lot of the problems that the other environments of the body have to deal with. It is really a pretty amazing system, you should check it out.

  25. Re:Ok, but why...? on Enzyme Found To Help Formation of New Axons · · Score: 1

Well, kick me if I'm wrong because I'm just learning about this stuff, but I would imagine it has something to due with the fact that the Central Nervous System has its own brand of Macrophages(cell destroying cells) called microglia. This is beneficial because you don't want some crazy regular immune cell going into the CNS and going rambo. I would imagine that the unique histology of the CNS is what causes this difference in the Spinal Cord. I'm certainly open for correction by someone who knows, however.
