  1. Just a connection port to the matrix ... on Ask Slashdot: What Hardware Is In Your Primary Computer? · · Score: 1

Lenovo Helix i5 - 4GB ram 256 SSD, stock. That is what I use to connect to the dozens of virtual servers and workstation where I do my real work. So I guess, technically, those are my real primaries? Dunno, I spend my days in virtual environments, sometimes 3 remote desktop / shells deep and I get confused ... My dream is a 17in laptop (keyboard without num keypad, please), under 2lbs, sort of the ultimate "dumb" terminal ... Nobody makes a machine like that (I think, if you've seen one, chime in). I don't need local horsepower, I just need a connection port to the matrix.

Have you seen the Blackberry Passport? It has more business-oriented innovation per square inch than any Apple product I have seen. This is the first time I am considering buying a product from them. I always hated their closed platform, but they responded by making Android apps work on their phones. I have seen their "little keyboard" in action, and it is impressive. It does make you type a lot faster. Someone obviously sat down and engineered this correctly. I would not call them dead yet, they always manage to surprise ...

  3. Real climate change causes ... on Experts: Aim of 2 Degrees Climate Goal Insufficient · · Score: 1

Wow. The way humanity is going at this is completely wrong, and no one is talking about the real cause of global climate change. The real cause is animal husbandry for the purpose of producing meat. The planet can sustain 10 billion humans, but it cannot support the 80 billion farm animals that go with animal production for human consumption. The numbers are staggering: the transportation sector is responsible for 13% of greenhouse gas emission. The greenhouse gas emission for the meat industry is estimated between 31 and 50%. But Greenpeace and Sierra Club are too busy collecting money from the american public to actually attack the real issue and piss off meat eaters that might mean less donations for them. I did my part and went vegan, setting an example to my family of 4 (my wife and the kids are totally free to eat what they want and I will cook them meat if they ask, but they more and more choose to eat what I prepare for myself). I am not worried, though. The planet can take care of itself, and when we disappear, nature will start again with less selfish creatures like ants or termites. They are as good architects as we are and seem to be able to exist without threatening the entire ecosystem. If you like numbers, check-out http://www.cowspiracy.com/ you'll have a good starting point to understand the issue.

When Apple didn't have enough imagination to create a product, they stole everything they could from Xerox and came up with their gui.

When Apple couldn't hack their crappy/buggy/patchy os9 anymore, they stole *insertwhatever*BSD and created os10.

    Wonder where they stole Newton.

I will NEVER, EVER buy an Apple computer. EVER. Hate the fanbase, Hate the ethics (or lack thereof), hate the company.
