Our company is in the middle of moving our server architecture from Ubuntu to CentOS. If this news has any chance of delaying the delivery of periodical and important software updates then I think it might be wise of us to reconsider our OS choice. What do you think?
If our youth is educated to think that for every unexplainable phenomenon in the universe, that intelligent design is the cause, then what chance do we have of actually expanding our knowledge of the universe through science? All that this would seem to accomplish is an overwhelming inclination to just throw in the towel for "spooky" phenomenon.
The way I see it, our scientific future is going to be divided amongst folks who want to get to the bottom of things, and those who think I.D. is the cause hence "Nothing more to see here, let's move along people". The world is setup that way already, this would only seem to make it worse.
FWIW, I grew up a Christian and blindly believed the world is as it is because God made it that way. I've since come to the realization, like many others, that although this may be true to a certain degree (if you believe), leave it out of the schools. Let schools teach "the world" and churches to teach "The other stuff". Just my $.02
We're sorry, but we cannot entertain the possibility of hiring you on the grounds that your genes are far too normal. We have a very strict policy of only hiring miscreants and dead-weight with abnormal genes. This may seem... odd at first glance, however, hiring individuals with clear sense and an overall good mental and physical disposition are counter-intuitive to our mission statements goal of creating an immoral, crooked and inefficient operation. You see, the more problems YOU have, the less you will attempt to undermine OUR low standards by introducing your "perfect 23" culture. Maybe check back with us after some reverse gene therapy.
I wonder how much this applies to E-commerce sites in regards to the ever prominent "Conversion Rate" metric. Many conversion rate analysts will say that plastering your privacy policies, showing security badges and offering a constant affirmation of your trustworthiness is paramount to convincing people they can and should buy from you.
Could this actually, in some cases, be hurting your overall goal of getting people to open up their wallets to you?
Raises my eyebrow for sure.
Distance is a fairly moot point since a lot of times towers get their connections via microwave links from a location MANY miles away, especially in remote locations. Buy bandwidth on the cheap and beam it off to some faraway land!

That's because to a large degree, there aren't many men who procreate with ugly women; that's not science, just common sense.
Welcome to /.
That's HOT
Saying your prayers surely wont hurt!
Winston: when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!
