But organic is the way to go! If it's natural, it's good for you
Why do so many people think this is the case?
I think the reasoning behind this is that natural substances are things we are more likely to have evolved in the presence of, and therefore we are more likely to be able to process. This is not always the case, but on the whole, "natural" substances are a safer bet.
This is probably incredibly silly, but the problem with time travel seems, to me, to be the issue of where you will appear. Relative to the sun (not to mention bigger things), the Earth was in a different position years (or minutes) ago. If you traveled back in time wouldn't you emerge into empty space?
I agree. Long term thinking and short term thinking both have their advantages and disadvantages. The bribe scheme would seem to skew matters in favor of the short-sighted (and incidentally cheaters as well).
While I can envision circumstances in which charity would seem warranted, I tend to agree with you, and to think, in general, that it is better for a businessman to do well by his or her workers and customers than to take them for all he can and then to give a portion of the profits as a random windfall to people far away.
I'm not saying that I'm convinced of this, but it occurs to me that the reason the latter option is so common (exploiting workers and customers and then being charitable to others) is that these distant beneficiaries are not potential competitors.
Perhaps this woman is negatively disposed towards Americans because every American she has had contact with just spent an infuriating half hour attempting to navigate a labyrinthine series of menu choices.
I don't understand why my comment was rated as "offtopic"... Adobe has been one of the most heavyweight proponents of SVG... they will now have controll of SVG's main competitor, Flash. The potential loss of Adobe's support for SVG is, to me, the biggest issue in this merger. Or was I replying to an article about something else?
This would make a great Sci-Fi plot. The human race is wiped out and needs to be replaced, but the only DNA on record is that in criminal databases. The story could go many places from there.
I run a home business, and I feel utterly at the mercy of these parasites. Between calls, faxes and junk email, I am kept in a constant state of agitation and unproductivity. My plan has always been that if my business ever fails and I no longer have any monetary assets to loose, I will drop out of society and drift from city to city sabotaging telemarketers (stealing paper and toner, cutting phone lines, etc... nothing too violent). It is pleasing to know that I have a fall-back plan.
I don't mean to give anyone ideas, but I'd be surprised if among the entire Slashdot community there isn't someone ready to do this. Such a person would become a hero to millions! One drawback is the possibility of prison time, and potential mistreatment - so keep this in mind. Also, don't physically hurt anyone.
Hi, I read the first three or four Dune books, and while I liked the character of Duncan Idaho, I eventually became annoyed because he just would'nt go away... It seemed that the logical conclusion of the series would be a universe peopled exclusively by Idaho clones, so I dropped the series even though I was curious about the outcome.
Can someone out there who has read the series please tell me if I can safely keep reading the books in the hope that the later books are not exclusively the saga of Duncan Idaho?
The story about the dead guy who wakes up is called Pillar of Fire... I read it in an anthology called S is for Space. My favorite story is Frost and Fire.

I highly recommend episode 3 of the 1980 television Cosmos. This episode made Copernicus my hero.

what about star trek uniforms?
Funny, I thought this was a continuation of an earlier thread and that Cynical Slashdot nerd had misspelled "feces".
Call me stupid, but perhaps it's a little short-sighted to build cities where humans can't naturally survive.
Like below sea-level?
I think what you saw are called galls. I saw this in the Attenborough documentary series "Life in the Undergrowth".

My hope is that this merger does not weaken Adobe's support for SVG.

Students are a great resource - high school or college-level art-school.
Depending on your project, I might be willing to help out - you can see some cartoons, etc on my site: www.taylorcustom.com

I know of a case where someone got away with passing fake bills, but was later apprehended when security tapes were reviewed.
