Maybe this is just to keep google from coming out with an ad supported os to compete with windows. So now they want to make google either pay M$, give it away for free, or charge people.
And when the next bomb goes off and someone you love and care about dies do you then have a right to ask the government why they did not stop it why they did not do more? It is almost as bad as the people who do not vote and then get pissed when they don't like who is elected. Those type of people do not have the RIGHT to complain. I do not condone the water boarding etc. That was not the issue. The issue was where they got the information. They are not listening to Americans domestic phone calls they are listening to international phone calls to known terrorist areas like Afghanistan, Pakistan etc.
Or is it a federal crime because we pay taxes to have the US mail deliver our mail so they can't open our mail? Also assuming you are a democrat I think FDR set the standard on opening mail during WWII:)
So if my neighbor murders his wife and throws the gun in my pool. The cops can not use that gun as evidence because they did not have a warrant for it when I brought it to them?
Unless the phone company has written in their contract that they will not share their network traffic with anyone I am given no assurance that they will not and they can do what they want with the traffic.
The Constitution says the government cant search my stuff with out a warrant. If I throw out the trash they can search my trash because I have discarded the trash. I am handing someone else my conversation (phone call) what they do with it is their choice. So under your thinking my IT department at work should not be able to read my e-mail or this post before it lets the network traffic be sent to/.? It is my works network, if my work then decides to hand that network traffic over to the federal government there is nothing I can do except find another job or another carrier.
I am glad the plot was stopped. However why is it assumed that when I use someone else's network that my conversation is secure? If I hand someone a sheet of paper with stuff written on it what guarantee do I have that the person transporting it for me will not sneak a peek at what is written on the sheet of paper. Why is the phone company any different it is their network. Does it make it right that the phone network hands over control to the government not exactly. However if you are put in that position of telling the government no, and then 3000 people dieing because of your choice could you handle that? I know they should have to ask permission before listening to people's phone calls but I doubt we have the man power to listen to everyone. Also who passed this law because I thought the Democrats control congress.
Naw just take people who are sentenced to death and practice stuff on them. It is a win win, the human race can learn something new and they don't have to wait.

Why is it that you can only write to a NAND gate 100,000 times before it stops working? Is it the material they are using or something with the voltage?
I am a gamer and the only reason I run windows now days is because most of the games use DirectX. Perhaps with driver support from ATI and Nvidia more people will start writing in openGL because they will realize there is a market for gamers on Mac, Linux, and Windows. Just because people use Linux does not mean they do not play video games. Thats why we all have windows boxes so we can play the games (or run wine).

But in the back of your mind you knew that if you acted up the teacher was going to smack the crap out of you, or your dad was going to kick the crap out of you at home. I think it all just comes down to parenting and paying attention to the child rather then just dropping them in front of the TV, computer, or video game console. Parents are just getting lazy and they do not discipline.
I was wondering why it is that back in the 1950's you never heard about people having attention problems. I know doctors have learned a lot about attention problems since the 1950's but you can still tell based on grades, interest in social activities etc. We may have not had a name for it in the 50's but if it was around it would have been documented. But now it just seams that cases of ADD and ADHD are just popping up all over the place. Could it be that parents are no longer at home? The dad does not get the joys of working 9-5 and coming home to his wife and dinner like in leave it to beaver? So the kid spends a lot of time away from their parents because the parents are at work. So the child must think up new ways to entertain them self and it just spirals out of control and the brain tricks the child into always wanting to daydream? So naturally the child sits in front of the TV and that just spurs the imagination, but maybe the imagination should only be used so much before it is always on. So if you think of the your imagination as downloading an mp3, and getting caught as ADHD. If you download one song you will probably be ok. If you download songs 24/7 you will probably get caught.
It is almost like human nature tells us to be lazy. All the hard task like farming, washing stuff, cleaning etc. have all been replaced by more efficient ways of doing stuff. If we could replace everything from programming, to all the cleaning we then get something from the Jetsons. Where all George has to do is push a button and sit in his chair. It is like human evolution is pushing us to a time where we do not have to worry about anything where we are left to either be lazy or left to think about the universe and our surroundings.
Well with machines, and 10,000 years of practice we do not need everyone farming or the biggest sector farming. So that then leaves a majority of the rest of the people to work in the service industry. Earth has 6 Billion+ people on it we can not all be farmers, or programmers. So that leaves a large majority to work at Wal-Mart or the grocery store etc. Not a great job but it is a job.

When I think service I think putting up with customers bull shit etc. Programming it all depends if you deal with the customer or not.
