Ummm yeah! But it's not so rare. It's called being a GUY.

It's going to be unpopular here but I'll say it. That woman is the manliest looking 15 year old female on god's good earth. She walks like a man, talks like a man, has muscles like a man, and the general countenance of a man.

People here are treating her case as if she were clearly a female and so are giving her a lot of leeway to be whatever gender she wants. But they are going to be crying foul play if she turns up a man and she is going to be cast a villain for it.

What a difference gender makes, right folks?

Own up to the gender favoritism, kids. When we think someone is a woman, we make psychological concessions, and any big bad man who suspects she might be male is unfair.

None of the crusaders for her cause to be any gender she desires is thinking of her competitors or of the general concept of fairness.

If she has such spectacular genetics, let her compete with the men.

You have to remember the higher ups are responsible for a lot and it's a risky job.

Where did this myth come from that you get to be a higher up if you can just take the risk? 99% are "higher ups" because of birth right. The other 1% are held out there as tokens of the philosophy "if only you work hard enough for us higher-ups, you can make it too".

Ask any poor guy with an inkling of sense and he'll gladly accept this "big bad risk" you speak of to make a truckload of money. I'd do it. Where is my executive position at Goldman Sachs?

Nope. They aren't handing those positions out to people just because they want to take risks. You need to *KNOW* somebody, or better yet, be related to somebody. Otherwise, they could just hit any casino in Vegas to fill their empty executive positions.

I'm not saying you can't make it in capitalist America if you try hard enough, but it sure does help if you choose your parents wisely. And the willingness to accept risk is not the reason people get to be higher ups.

All those years of fighting for justice and trying to make a good product and this is what they get? It's like a slap in the face. A real shame. It's like China doesn't give a rat's ass whether Microsoft turns a profit in their country or not, or any other American software company. I tell you what, I'm not going to buy Chinese products any more if they are going to treat American software producers like this. What a farce!

I know all you slavishly leftist Slashdotters of the current age think that Sarah Palin is a moron.

Don't confuse intelligence with slavish leftism. It's a common mistake, but you are not excused. Sarah Palin is dumber than her daughter Trig. She was the most damned idiotic VP pick in presidential history. She'd lose a spelling bee to Dan Quayle. She is the #1 reason I gave up on McCain. She ruined the republican ticket this time around.

What you need to do is to go get your bible and thank your lucky fucking stars and God himself that she will never be anywhere near the White House save for a global lead overdose and pandemic retardation.

I also suggest that you read up on the health care/insurance reform debate. I don't know if the Obama plan is the right one, but we are on a path right now to a ruinous situation if we stick with the status quo.

Consider this: I was among those who thought GW Bush was nuts when he asked for $700,000,000 USD from us taxpayers to sponge up toxic assets from insolvent banks. For all of the man's faults as a president (he had many), I think that his actions last October were the boldest and most presidential moves of his or perhaps any president's career--whether or not he proposed the best course of action. In the words of VP John Biden, in hindsight I don't doubt Bush's motives on that call, although as a fiscal conservative I had big big problems with it in principle.

So your challenge, as a soon-to-be enlightened fiscal conservative republican type, is to go research what the projected health care costs as a percent of the US GDP will be in ten years and ask yourself if something needs to be done. (You are allowed to find projections that were made during the Bush presidency if it makes you feel better--you'll get the same answer.)

Just as TARP was better than sitting around waiting for economic collapse, you might find that health care/insurance reform is not such a misguided idea when you see for yourself what otherwise awaits us on the horizon.

Proper treatment might make them productive members of society but they don't get proper treatment so they live wretched lives and still draw a lot of ill will to boot.

You probably wouldn't ask your question if Comcast sent a rabid doberman pincer to the man's house--would you? Humans have a tremendous potential to be dangerous so the need is great to be careful with them. Plus, if the company isn't held responsible for the actions of the employees who represent them, it becomes a slippery slope. What is to stop Comcast from employing a team of bruisers that is sent to rough customers who demand good service?

The best thing is to treat the negligence that Comcast has showed a crime and come down hard on them with tough punitive damages. We take a punitive approach with private citizens so it makes sense to do it with corporations. Both need to exhibit responsibility for their actions, or are companies exempt in your mind?
