that said, my old satellite receiver had this weird habit of cutting the signal completely when the ads came on, coming back on when the ads ended. Didn't work *every* time, but I hardly ever saw a commercial. It could be the received signal strength (my dish was about as useful as a bit of wet string and a cup), though I've heard of people with TiVo and 90+% signal strength having the same "problem"...
How about, instead of something which monitors the audio track (surely a bit heavy for an embedded device which is already busy decompressing MPEG-4 video information), something which detects a commercial break information frame (the little box that appears in the top right hand corner ten seconds before the break cuts in) and triggers a mute or a fadeout until the second CBI frame appears at the end of the break, which reverses the switch. Something like this? It can be completely passive, since the CBI is an extra bit of signal.
I worship gaffer tape. It has a light side and a dark side, just like the Force, and it binds the Galaxy together. Difference being, it's real, tangible, and doesn't require faith because its physicality is a reassuring proof of its ubiquity.
yep, and HE1327-2326 is only 4,000 light years away. It is located in Hydra, at RA 13h 30m 06s; Dec. -23 41' 54", and you'll need a substantial telescope and perfect viewing conditions to spot it.
that's only because Australia doesn't have a nuclear power generating capacity - because they don't want it. Yet. Although, with 40% of the world's known uranium reserves in its dirt, one could hardly blame them for being willing to part with it at what other consider to be bargain basement prices... one man's shit, etc. That'll change if Resources Minister Martin Ferguson gets his way, but even he's still nervous after Fukushima. "The Australian government's responsibility is to test all forms of clean energy and if at some point in the future we don't get the breakthrough on baseload clean energy Australia will need to think seriously about considering nuclear." - Mr. Ferguson, Nov. 14 2012
Although, personally, I think Australia would stand better baseloading with solar and/or wind when the coal runs out. It'd sure be a hell of a lot easier passing that through Parliament.
As a resident of a small island off the West coast of Europe, and having done my research, I can tell you now that Europe as a whole is not innocent; particularly Norway, where one fifth of the child population is in State care, or the UK where children of foreign nationals from at least 116 countries including the United States, Australia, Mexico, India, Pakistan, China and the former Soviet republics are taken by the THOUSANDS by the State to feed the adoption and fostering industry.
Details to follow. Meantime, the information is ALL public domain and available on this link.
I have been informed by my telco that you wish to gather subscriber information with the intention to extort money from them, with the claim that said subscribers have been involved in commercial piracy.
As a subscriber, and irrespective of whether or not I might be named in that information, I have some information for you. It consists of the final two words in Arkell v- Pressdram (1971) [unreported].
Sincerely,
Anon.
PS: if you do happen across my details, take notice that I shall be demanding a trial by jury, that I shall be self-representing, and that I shall be counter-litigating. Bring it.

Nope, sorry, you lost me. I was talking about milled uranium ore, U3*O8*, which is the only legal method of transporting uranium across state borders anywhere in the world.
*Please, Slashdot, stop fucking about and fix the forms if we're supposed to be able to use html markup! ALL OR NOTHING! At least give us the tag!
it's as good as cashmoney, and if they send it back, then the contract is completed. Offer, consideration and agreement. You have no further obligation to them.
Of course, you could demand a trial by jury and put the burden on them to prove it was YOU who PHYSICALLY DOWNLOADED THE MOVIE. In a civil suit, there is no such burden of proof on the accuser; you are guilty until you prove yourself innocent. Not being in physical proximity to your computer (ie you're in hospital, in a vegetative state) is not a substantive denial. Apparently.
funnily enough, I've made several submissions and this is the first to make it to the front page - because I lifted parts from the BBC obit and parts from wikipedia. Usually I would pick two far more reliable sources (read: sources which are far more likely to hold firsthand Truth rather than sanitised regurgitation). Probably why my submissions don't get accepted.
it'll probably just be for the front pair, since that's what the average viewer uses. Have to be some sort of geek to use more than that.
DISCLAIMER: I am an audio geek. I have more speakers connected to my laptop than I have fingers.
BARRY SCOTT!
Yep, it's the Cillit Bang guy who has two modes: yell until lungs bleed, and sleep.

Get us clearance, Clarence.

yep, same as the United States already has access to unlimited supplies of oil in Texas.
Question is, where would you go for something if you found a source you didn't have to pay for?

whoever steps in to clean up the mess will be in for rich rewards of as much yellowcake as they can stuff in their jackets.
I wonder if that's because North Korea supplies China with all that yellowcake they got buried under there?
nope, his bank takes 30 days.
forgot to clarify; an IOU is worded thusly:
"I PROMISE TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND THE SUM OF THE DEBT."
To complete, a legal signature on the piece of paper.
(there is NO LAW which prevents an individual from issuing his OWN CURRENCY).

I wish them luck with that.
fail.
I was looking for Alan Turing.
Would you like to go for the Daily Double, where things can really change??
so tell us, please, how it's any less relevant now?
yep, Britain.
yeah, just a bit, I was waiting for someone else to pick up on it...
who would play Athos?
thirty days.
