You obviously aren't a perfectionist. And considering this is one of his most famous paintings, I can't believe you suggested that he drop touch ups for "bigger and better projects." Obviously all the work he put into it was a total waste of time /scoff Original drafts are never perfect--something I've learned in English class. And for God's sake, I understand what you're trying to do with your simile, but never compare the Mona Lisa to Star Wars again.

I'm seventeen, and it amazes me that I know more about taxes than half of /. . If you have any sort of income, including bank account interest, coming from the US economy, you must pay taxes. I make less than a standard deduction, so I get all my federal withholding back--technically, I could claim exempt from taxes, but I still have to do the damn form. More students don't have to pay taxes unless they have a TA job, etc. I believe those with dual citizenship or foreign citizenship are required to pay that country's taxes as well.

Dear Mr. Pessimist, The reason athletes are paraded around is because, as mentioned, they are entertaining. They are in the public eye, because their line of "business" involves being watched. Obviously, they are going to be recognized. Those who stay inside all day doing research, reading books, etc, are obviously not going to be as visible, and not worshiped. It's just a matter of how visible you make yourself. Einstein, our founding fathers, etc, were adored by the common people, even though they didn't understand their principles and/or theories. But I have to admit, I would love if conducting research equaled as much bed time as throwing a football.
