I've taken the MMPI before. As everyone has said, its a tediously long test w/567 yes/no questions. Quite a few are variations on the same question to catch people trying to lie.
Lots of very very skewed gender questions that fit some sterotypes of the 50s and 60s though. Maybe we'll find out that the computer is really a woman at heart.;)

In my area in Chicagoland (NW burbs), we get 3mbps down and 128k up. Of course, neither is guaranteed. Average bandwidth is like 900/100, but latency is poor lateley.
I have @home/mediaone near Chicago, IL. It used to be good 2 years ago, but not any more. My -gateway- pings from 200-1000ms often..you tell me that is good. Downloads are pretty snappy, though, from 1-3mbps I think. So, it's great when downloading files and surfing, but it is horrible for gaming or anything else that requires low latency.
You can find examples on both sides to show how DSL or cable is better...One thing about Cable vs DSL, though. Cable is targeted at neighborhoods/nodes, while DSL is situated in 20 mile radii from Central offices and remote DSLAMs. Provided it doesnt' die off (and it won't...), it has a chance to outstrip DSL. A lot of new offerings such as Sprint ION DSL offer downloads up to 8mbps as well.
The problem with a lot of these solutions, especially the satellite one is latency. If you play online games, you get something like a 500ms ping more more (I've not done the speed of light math, sorry). This is great for the average user who just wants to download fast, but not for gamers. So it's great for my father, but not for me;)
Actually, most DSL providers user ATM, as an FYI for you.
Also, I get an SLA with SDSL, but it mainly consists of an 80% throughput guarantee.
Stil, on average, T-1s tend to have few problems. But I can provide examples of DSL users who have had -ZERO- problems in a one year period, and T-1 users (or even DS-3) that have outages on a monthly basis.

Well, it sort of depends. I still remember the first time I got Unreal Tournament. I finally made it out of the starting spaceship and to the outside. I swear I just sort of looked around and was amazed by how gorgeous the scenary looked at the time.
Also, I am one of those crazy bas*ards who likes to play a sniper in a game linux UT in assault mode. I gotta tell you, stunning visuals sure make it easier for me to get a real accurate head shot!
And lastly, not everyone plays things like an FPS. I like RPGs like say Asheron's Call and the upcoming Neverwinter Nights. In a slower-paced game like this, eye candy makes the experience much more immersive.
I won't argue on 2D quality. They need to put better RAMDACs in many of these cards!

Hmmm, could it be because Covad has to PAY QWest to provide you DSL?
Also, where I live, the ILEC is Ameritech... They won't sell me static IPs or SDSL. Perhaps QWest is different, but I refuse to pay less and get dynamic IP address and PPPOE...
BLECH
Actually, if you read the info they have on the server maximum, there is NO maximum. They throw out the 64 person limit for a DSL or cable connection, it is not a software or server hardware limit.
Therefore, it would seem entirely possible to have some BIG servers out there if people had some good T1+ pipes. Plus, it supports portals, where one server can link to another to sort of expand the world.
Anyway, my point is there are no hard-coded limits for connections. No one even knows the limits now, and they are Internet pipe-related.
Also, you are right on one point, it doesn't seem to be oriented as a MMORPG, anyway:)
You must own the only items unsupported then. I have 4 PCs at home, ranging from a PII-266, to a PIII 600, and since about the time of RH6, they install out of the box, and everything works just fine and dandy.
Can't say the same about Windows 9x or NT though. The only PC I have problems with is the laptop with a stupid combo card that has an xjack.
Just one of the many people who have put this question out there...but.
Does ANYONE actually try software/read articles/whatever before posting here? Seems like over half of the responses in this topic are inane, given that the poster wouldn't have even posted had they gone ahead and tried the software.
At any rate, the software is quite cool, and also customizable (and pretty). As everyone should know, its not a finished product, so take what you see with a grain of salt.
Anyway, keep up the good work...its nice to see a large # of options out there.
Check out this place...it would be installed on a linux server. It probably is going to work best with the Windows 2000 VPN clients and even then I could be wrong:) Chris
So the above situation is this? A sents a signal to B at the speed of light. Then B receives the signal and sends it back at say 2.1x the speed of light, which means A received the reply before they sent the original message?
Also, I suppose its a paradox when one of the parties isn't expected superliminal communications...but if both parties are transmitting at say 2.1x the speed of light, is there still a problem?
Just sort of pondering here, forgive me for being an idiot? Been say 10 years since I read a physics book:)
I use wingspanbank.com, and they have free bill payment online. Overall they have been nice to deal with, and I can use BankOne ATMs for free as well. (nice if you live in chicago) Chris
Well, I personally like the purple. :) I'd prefer maybe a green though.
;)
At least I don't have to worry being thought of as a pansy

I have to admit that it is ugly as sin, couldn't pay me to drive it unless one of those show models came with the car :/
On a side note, newer Volvos are NOT square any more, and look damn nice.
Case in point are the S60 http://new.volvocars.com/new/S60/index.html and the S80 http://new.volvocars.com/new/S80/index.html.
Have fun.

Man, got flamed for helping reduce FTP downloads. lol
Sorry it took you 2 seconds to scroll down the list.

Maybe I'm totally missing something here...
BUT, if the caps have shrunk 45%, shouldn't the sea level risen as well?

If you like the Gnome environment, but think Enlightenment is slow or eats too much RAM, try Sawmill.
n dex.html
http://www.dcs.warwick.ac.uk/~john/sw/sawmill/i
It can give you the basic look and feel and is small footprint.
