I'm not a cyclops!:) But seriously, I can notice flicker at any resolution under 85hz, and 72 is really bad to me. I can always tell, since every computer I seem to go to is set at 75hz, so I end up changing it...never been wrong when I got to the setup, its always shown 75hz or lower.
80hz might be tolerable though, not tried that rate.
Not all firewalls just pass port 80 and don't examine the packets.
I know Secure Computing's Sidewinder analyzes the packets, and some application level ones may as well. I also think even Checkpoint has an addon that gives this facility.:)
What are you talking about? Memory capacity matters here. DDR is faster than PC133, but it certainly doesn't mean that a stick of DDR is worth over 2x more capacity-wise...
I don't get why you are complaining. I'm certainly glad not everyone is a lemming and does things they way they are 'supposed to do. Also, I don't know the pay structure at CompUSA, but if there wasn't a flat fee for doing work like this, who cares...and if there was, thats just stupid.:)
8 Feet isn't that far away, I've seen lots of cables longer than that which didn't have any signal degredation.
Finally, I'd want the roll-top to close if I had one.;)
Oh yah, I have a G4, but its one of the few non-beige things aside from my speakers.
My spouse works for a Japanese company and helps clean up translations a lot (they are Japanese). I also know Japanese and help them when I can.
OMG the 1st run of translations are really bad! Its not often as weird as the one you show, but I've gone through 20 page documents and added 'the' like a thousand times since it was left off every time for example.:D
What were you doing that took hours? My G4 is the 1st Mac I've owned since the original 128k Mac, and I didn't think anything was brain surgery.
I still disagree on the consistency argument. It might be a minor problem on the Mac, but its more than minor on linux. You did make the argument abou t KDE though, IF you can find everything you need for KDE, you're set.
Did you even read my post? It doesn't use a 2.5" laptop hard drive. It uses a 1.8" one, and it is made by Toshiba and is ONLY in a 5gb size now. The street price (for end-users) is the same price as the iPod!.
For one, how many people are like you and have 34gb of music in MP3s? I might have that much if I copied all of my CDs to MP3s I suppose, but I never listen to them all....anyway.
Plus, he has not convinced everyone that firewire alone is worth the price premium... I think it is worth a little premium, as if you've ever used an iPod, music copying is almost instantaneous on a song-by-song basis, for my measly 1gb collection, it's extremely fast.
And lastly, again, the HD in the iPod is not a normal 2.5" HD. Go to apple and check out the tech specs. That is the main reason for the price, imho (even if Apple stuff does cost more on average).
You might want to check on how much the drive alone goes for in the iPod. I'm sure it will go down once demand increases, but right now I believe the bare drive is about $399...
Granted, I think I get second-guessed too much for my liking. But, I've never seen problems w/promotions and the such as long as you do a good job.
However, I personally am interested to just see what her experiences have been in the field. How is she treated by most men, has she ever had her opinion ignored, etc.:)
I use a pair of Harmon Kardon Soundsticks in my Mac G4/867. They 'just work', and I've never had any issues. The sound quality is also very good, imho. No issues with them under Win2k either, although it was missing a few of the extra features I had in MacOS.
Now, I can't say they are -as good- as a great pair of 5.1 speakers and say a SB Audigy or something, but the sound is still clear, and they match my Mac's color, too;)
Even in Japan, it's not like they follow grammatical rules to the RULE. Especially in movie titles and the such. They also like to do plays on words using characters.
Anyway, the point is that while word such as 'daikatana' doesn't exist, but THIS IS A BLOODY GAME. You can make up anything you want for a game title.:) Plus, most people can figure out what the heck they mean when they use those to Kanji together...
As another poster said, it's been a -long- time since Apple came out w/an OS that made you buy a new Mac.
For most current Mac users, it is only OS X that made them do this, and it even runs on a lot of Macs from at least the G3 line onward (I use it on a B&W as well as my new G4).
Seems like a lot of old Mac users complain about OS X, but I certainly like the fact that I've never had the OS crash yet;)
I know you were being sarcastic, but...:) In this case it'd be a her that we're putting hair on. And if she's like me, she doesn't want hair on her chest. hehe
Well, USB 2.0 might be 400Mbit, but I thought it was a shared bus? Whereas firewire isn't shared? Plus, firewire devices have their own controller chips and don't make the CPU do any of the work...
I have an 867 with 768 RAM and a Geforce3. Runs just fine here. I can't find anything that I consider slow, aside from app launch times sometimes. Sure, 9.x is a little faster, but I can't complain with OS X.
Zyxel makes the Zywall, and I believe Netgear uses their products and just puts their name on it.

Just a quick overview - http interface if you want, stateful inspection firewall, pppoe (oa too?) support, and multi-NAT. I like the last feature since I hve a few pcs...
I guess you could do the linux box if you wanted, and I've done it before. It's just that I like how small a box like this is, and the fact that it doesn't make any noice, and reboots extremely fast. Also, and this is my problem, I was tempted to play with the Linux one too often;)

? I have a B&W G3 at 450 and it runs OS X -ok- (with 256 ram). It's not as fast as the G4/867, but it certainly isn't dog slow.
Its pretty poor to call OS X crap, too. OS 9 was faster, but sure as heck wasn't even close to as stable as OS X.
My spouse works for a Japanese company and helps clean up translations a lot (they are Japanese). I also know Japanese and help them when I can.

Didn't have any issues doing the update on my Quicksilver 867.
If it's that slow on their system, something is wrong. One of the Linux boxen I run it on is a K6-2 500 w/160mb of RAM and it runs acceptably, imho.
Did you even read my post? It doesn't use a 2.5" laptop hard drive. It uses a 1.8" one, and it is made by Toshiba and is ONLY in a 5gb size now. The street price (for end-users) is the same price as the iPod!.
Sheesh.

Still, they're using a laptop hard drive. The HD used by the iPod costs (to a normal end-user) about the same price as the iPod itself...
I guess they could have released an iPod at a cheaper price w/more storage, but then it'd be just as large as the other options out there.
You might want to check on how much the drive alone goes for in the iPod. I'm sure it will go down once demand increases, but right now I believe the bare drive is about $399...
Yah, I'll agree on the troll modding. Certainly wasn't a 4 insightful like it used to be, but I don't see how it's a troll.
I found the original topic a 'little' sexist, but actually just more stereotypical of how a lot of men sound...
:/
But, the term you used comes out MUCH worse than what he wrote. It's not a term I like to here
Sheesh!

Anyone have a web link for that? I see they have some other stuff on the web chat, but I can't find this newsfeed.
:)
Darn firewall
I have 3 different deskstars. 2 (60 and 75gxp) in my g4, and one 75gxp in the g3. No problems whatsoever and they are quite quiet.
