3P0 doesn't recognize him because he had his memory erased. Remember in EP4:ANH Uncle Owen tells Luke to have R2's memory erased. It is probably like erasing a HD and reloading an OS. So therefore, 3P0 would not have any clue as to who the Skywalkers are. His memory could have been wiped a hundred times. Who knows how many owners he has had.
Anakin/Vader doesn't recognize 3P0 because all of those type of droids look alike. Hell, Anakin might have bought a droid kit (Heath Kit anyone?). The name C3P0 could be like a license. You might have to put in for a license number/name for your droids. You have to license your Dog, your car, your motorcycle, your airplane, your sailboat. None of the other droids in the movies had real names. It might not be common to name a droid. They also don't fool themselves that droids are like people. Remember how they turned off C3P0 in the other movies? You don't do that to a person...
He left C3P0 with his mother. C3P0 might have been in good enough condition to fetch a sum for her to make a little money. Maybe she could even buy her freedom? Or, C3P0 might be in good enough condition (no likely though) to do some help around the house for her...
Umm... What planet were you on Mr. Katz when the original movies came out? Star Wars came out as a sleeper hit, but the next two were media blitzes. I don't know what kind of deranged memories you have, but the hype that exists now is only proportional to the time people have waited for something more to chew on. Fans have created more hype for SW:TPM than Lucasfilms has. Open your eyes and look around you.
Ahh! You had a case for your computer?!?! In my day we didn't even HAVE cases! We had to hold the components in our bare hands! It made for difficult typing and all, but you didn't hear us complain! Oh, no! Sometimes a component would fry because of static, but we loved it anyway. Cases?!?! You had a case!?!?! We didn't even know what a case was! Beige, you say? That color didn't even exist in my day! Beige cases... Damn kids... I thought my Dad had it bad! He had to count on his hands!
This sounds like the fabled Microsoft vs. IBM programming teams, where IBM employees were supposedly being paid per LOC and Microsoft employees were being paid for the job they did. The story goes that for every 10 LOC IBM wrote, Microsoft optimized it down to 1. Then they started making the IBM team look bad and things started to fall apart from there. I believe this was back in the early days of OS/2 (slightly before Microsoft excercised their license agreement and came out with their own OS/2-like system, Windows)... I guess it is the amount of code that you write that matters, not the quality, according to CNN anyway.
Too bad Microsoft can't release a program today that isn't over 100 meg compressed. That is partially why I am big into shareware and freeware, where you can often find a nicely featured, solidly written program that does what you need. For example: JASC's Paint Shop Pro. Okay, sorry you Linuxheads... The Gimp is wondiferlous too... Unfortunately, my job requires me to use Wintel machines all day...
Oh... For one decent program written outside the US, I'll name 10, no 20 programs that have been written in the US...
You know, those new dual 56K modems that you use two phone lines for and call your "Shotgun" enabled ISP and get a throughput of 112K? Can this be used with Linux or FreeBSD? Is it a Microsoft/Windows API only? If it can be used with Linux or FreeBSD, can you used two different kinds of modems, or do they have to be the "Shotgun" type like Diamond puts out? Thanks...
They are so worried about the record companies losing money. Why not embrace the format and sell discs using the format. I mean, they can come up with some whiz-bang thing like make enhanced cd's with a free bonus MP3 track or something...
I wasn't worried as much about spelling as I was the meaning. Rob stated it as the sound being 157 dB. The page says that their measurements topped out at 157 dB higher than a level that can do permanent damage to the ear (meaning it is higher than 157 dB). Okay, now that I have spelled that out for those of you who need visual aid, we can get on with our lives...
Here is a burning Apple logo I made a few years ago, when I was using Macs quite a bit. I just got so fed up with them and just wished they went away. Funny now, the Macs really are burning... Anyway, I made this animated GIF. You may copy it and post it wherever, just provide a link to my webpage. Here is the GIF...

They are the PCMCIA (the organization that standardized most of these technologies...)

oOoOps! Yep, you are correct. Didn't see the hyphen. Sorry :)
Sorry if I didn't quote the page exactly...

Actually, the page says the sound tops out at "157 dB ABOVE a level that can do permanent damage to the hearing of an adult". That is DAMN loud.
Ahhh! A fellow Wait's fan! Good to meet you :) There aren't as many of us you know...
