The vast majority of the spam I see going through our servers at work comes from dynamic address space. There are LOTS of unpatched boxes connected to broadband service just waiting to be taken over (and over and over...) by bot-masters. It seems to me that the bulk of the problem could be solved if ISPs would simply apply egress filters for port 25 to traffic from their dynamic address space(s).
All of the Google results for the name Alexy Tolstokozhev point back to Slashdot (specifically this item) or other sources who feed off of Slashdot. A search for the name at spamhaus.org comes up empty. If he is such a notorious spammer why is he not listed on Spamhaus Rokso? Is this a bogus story?
It seems to be outside the realm of possibility to get any ISP filter outbound SMTP connections from their dynamic address space. What makes the MPAA think they can get them to pull of scanning for copyrighted content?
on a Heathkit H8 with 16K RAM, 8080 CPU, 5/14 AND 8 inch floppies. Nearly all of the software was FREE back then - except the BASIC interpreter.

SMTP is port 25. Most spam is transmitted that way. Spammers usually don't take the time to login.
