Hordeking, take a step back and think about what you are saying. You sound like an idiot, and your argument makes no sense. Your whole spiel about not "confusing price with intrinsic value" is so stupid its not even wrong.........Its just beside the point, entirely.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not defending Wrath0fb0b here, I'm just saying that you are an idiot. I'm guessing you didn't really read through his original post, that you recently learned about "intrinsic value" in school, have a stick up your ass about New York City, and are trying to weave it all together in one of the stupidest series of posts I have ever seen on slashdot. Just my 2 cents (now what's the intrinsic value of that?)

doubt it makes sense yet for a city like New York. 1 of these structures takes up an entire city block and can feed only 50,000 people. 50 thousand sounds like a lot, but thats a drop in the bucket in the big apple. You would have to build hundreds of these. As someone said a few posts below yours. "build it horizontally and call it New Jersey"

  4. cool idea, but not sure the numbers add up on Spiraling Skyscraper Farms For a Future Manhattan · · Score: 1

Its a really cool idea, but... one 30 story building that takes up 1 city block to feed 50,000 people doesn't seem like that's enough for a city like New York. I mean 50 thousand people is nothing. There are millions of people in NY every day - millions of people who actually live here, millions more who commute in every day, and what seems like billions of tourists. If they want to start tearing down city blocks, I'd rather they build more parks and ship the food in from across the Hudson. Dedicating an entire City block? How many of these things would we need?

At the risk of being flamed to the 9th circle of hell here on /. lets be honest with ourselves, Linux = innovative. Open Office = pretty blatant rip off. Microsoft has a point. They innovated their way to dominance over Word Perfect with Word, and they innovated their way to dominance over Lotus 123 with Excell. And Open Office is just a rip off of the Office suite, plain and simple. That being said, its one hell of a good one. And yes I fully acknowledge that MSFT has indeed ripped off its fair share, as well as used its monopoly to, well monopolize... but they did not get to where they are out of pure evil. They actually did some good things along the way, and one of them was Office (well, at least until the most recent version).

Based on what I read in the article, Hillary seems pretty solid, Obama is strong in places (like his stand on net neutrality), but a little vague in others, and McCain, surprisingly enough, is not as bad as I assumed going in.

The big holes for McCain (in my opinion) are on broadband access, and immunity for TelCos. But I don't really see Obama or Clinton proposing anything innovative or new re: Broadband access, so McCain's "leave it to competition in the private sector" is not so bad in comparison. As far as immunity for Telcos I don't know what McCain is thinking other than trying to be the toughest candidate out there on "National Security" issues.

All things being equal, my gut believes that Obama will serve the interests of the /. crowd the best, but based on this article Hillary seems the most solid.
