  21. Re:what's up with OpenBSD? on OpenSSH Package Trojaned · · Score: 1

    a) True enough, but the poster I was replying to was questioning if OpenBSD was in trouble because of the issues with OpenSSH and OpenSSL. If all the OSs that used OpenSSL were in trouble, we'd be wearing Borg implants. :)

    b) If possible, it's not a bad idea to firewall SSH access to only those machines that require it[0]

    c) Nothing at all wrong with discussing technical merits and shortcomings. Insinuating that OpenBSD is in trouble because of a few blemishes (as the original poster did) is silly IMHO.

    [0] I'm a TinFoilHat OpenBSD user. A remote box I run only has SSH accessible through the VPN. IPSec'd SSH sounds like overkill, but I sleep very well. ;)

  22. Re:what's up with OpenBSD? on OpenSSH Package Trojaned · · Score: 2

    This is the second problem with OpenSSH in a few months, and OpenSSL was exploited just a few days ago

    a) OpenSSL != OpenSSH
    b) OpenBSD and OpenSSH both still have excellent track records compared to your average Linux[0] distribution.
    c) If OpenSSH is really that much of a hole, write something better
