If you go fast enough at any point, there will be enough gas collected in that instant for the propulsion process. The problem is that the amount of air decrease as you move higher in altitude, so you will correspondingly have to increase your velocity to collect the needed gas. So the rocket-plane would have to have an acceleration requisite to collect enough gas in an instant. The good news is that at lower altitudes, most of the accelerating will be done to escape gravity, and as your altitude increase and the force of gravity on the ship decreases, you don't have to accelerate as much just to counter gravity, but you will have to continue accelerating your acceleration;) the higher you go in the atmosphere, until at least you reach space, at which point you better have some other plan for propulsion or you're never coming back! So instead of you simply having the provide enough thrust to reach escape velocity or something near it, you will have to apply extra thrust the higher you go in Earth's atmosphere to keep the rate of air intake constant. But if the rate of air intake is constant, how are you going to accelerate? Perhaps you must have a higher than 1 degree acceleration. This is obviously a challenging problem, given the fact that no one has solved it yet. So basically, you will need tons of crazy acceleration all the way up, perhaps extreme acceleration so that as you move higher a = h^n, n being some number higher than 1. This would probably kill everyone riding in the ship, but perhaps if the ship was made out of extremely strong and/or flexible material such as titanium, the ship could survive such internal stress of the thrust production assembly pushing up on the rest of the ship.

Travis

Can a university filter or block incoming http requests through a proxy and record outgoing responses? If they can, which universities do and which don't?
Can a university come in my room and say "we have reason to believe you are breaking the law" and take my box and look in it and do what they want with it? In a more general sense, can they seize my property while I'm on campus? Which schools do this?
Thanks,

I'm 18 and I started doing Java coding when I was 17 at an internet company (www.purespeed.com). I've found the best way to get respect from your bosses and others is to make something (in my case an app) that works, and to consistently deliver on your promises. The more promises I make good on and the more apps I make, the more respect and influence I get.
Thanks,

What ever the hell Microsoft had planned for Visual J++ 6.0 and above, they are simply shifting those plans into the C# Visual Studio.NET crap. Fuck Microsoft, Java is better, C++ and X86 assembly will always rule!

When I was registering my site fuckeverything.com a few months ago, I ran into the same problem. My solution was to register through one of the many registering services out there. It cost about $35 more than I would have paid if I had been able to register it normally, but it did get registered.
The government has only been bad news for not only us computer junkies but most about everybody in history in general. fuck the government. Thanks, Travis forkspoon@hotmail.com
Where are the alternative DNS services? Can't anybody say "give me 5 bucks and I'll put you on my DNS server"? Why does Network Solutions own the DNS for the entire WORLD? Travis forkspoon@hotmail.com
Do you think you will get more popular by suing fans? Did you ever consider that you may lose MORE money suing (lawyers costs and loss of fan money [boycotting concerts, albums, memorabilia]) than by letting new fans get your music through Napster, and then you getting money when they go out and get the album or go to your concert? The vast majority of us were never doing big stuff, maybe some warez, porn, but no scams, etc. These laws make it riskier to even engage in questionable activity. Sure, morally, d/ling warez is wrong, but when I have only two warez progs, HOW immoral is it? I guess if you are a sinless jesus then you agree with all the laws and regulations, but must people won't lose sleep over a little warez or porn. These laws put the average net joe in trouble when he makes an illegal copy of any software, no matter how trivial. To me, it seems like the regulation will continue until the net is like the real world. But if we look at history, we see that the real world has only gotten more authoritarian over the centuries. Expect the same for the net. Thanks, Travis forkspoon@hotmail.com
Use for wireless networking

These can be used for wireless networking if they will accept broadcast input. Each person would have to have a large dish, with a possibly very powerful signal, a possible safety concern. However, current dish-based wireless reaches 11mbps for about $500. If the fees were low ($15-30), I could go for that. It won't happen though, becuase satellite maintainence is pricy, and launch costs increase the price of each satellite by several million dollars, making it way too expensive for enough users to run it even if it could be done. How do you feel about C++'s development into a template for a universal syntax for other languages? Is it appropriate to continue using C++ as a guide for other languages? Java, JavaScript, Perl, and many other languages have parts or are comprised almost entirely from C++ syntax. Should this trend continue? Thanks, Travis forkspoon@hotmail.com

This is bad. Just because a person or company registers a trademark in any country, now it seems he has the right to the domain name, even if he hasn't paid for it yet. So the big guys win again. I mean, the WWF can spare 1k, 10k, even 100k in ransom to this guy. And they can also do without that specific name, and maybe get creative and think up another name that isn't taken. One reason this law is bad is because it probably will work backwards. For instance, American laws can't hold you liable if you did something in 1910 if the law came about in 1915. It is called ex post facto, and it keeps the government from making laws just so they can shut people up by putting them in jail for something trivial they did in the past. However, it seems that now, if a corporation bought the trademark in 1910, they have rights to the corresponding domain name, even without paying for it. Screw this law, in the past, domain's were given in a first come, first serve basis, with no official interference after that. This added layer of government will only serve large corporations and will only work against individual rights. Travis forkspoon@hotmail.com
