Actually yes, I change providers every 6-12 months or so.
Only new customers get the discounted phone deals they advertise, so it makes no sense to stay with the same provider (and they've shown no inclination when asked to match the deals either).. I cycle through the 4 main providers here constantly - but what it does mean is I will *not* take long contracts.
Currently I'm on £20 a month unlimited data, with no minimum contract.. someone I know just managed to wangle a better deal for £15 a month unlimited text *and* data (but he uses the phone a lot more than me, so is probably worth more to them).
I've still got an iphone in desk. It's not been used for ages since I upgraded.. but I'm stuck with it for nearly a year because of the stupid contract.
It won't - BT is pretty slow really.. OK for browsing but not much else.
I doubt you're going to get a deal for less than £5 a month on the iphone either... those dongles are well worth the money (and work perfectly under OSX).
Are you likely to? Pretty much any company is going to have a decent firewall and proper IT policies (eg. no USB dongles, no floppies, no anything from outside without prior permission). If a company gets hit the first action should be to fire the IT staff, then hire new ones to clear up the mess.
Schools/Colleges are the ones that are most vulnerable, followed by home systems (assuming most people are behind a NAT and only numpties would forward every port blindly.. although it's scary how many times I've seen sites suggest doing just that to make some poxy game work).
Probably not. I suspect a fully patched machine behind a non-broken firewall is reasonably safe (which you would think would be almost everybody, but never understimate the power of human stupidity). I don't know anyone that's had any contact with this worm, only the press hype.. so no idea how prevalent is really is - but I suspect a lot less than the AV companies would like us to believe.
It exists, but I'm not sure of the details - I do know there have been a few jpegs on the wow forums in the last few months with a payload on them, and some have been caught out before the image was deleted.
I'm not sure that you could - you can't see a facebook profile unless you're already a friend of the user, and 'US Attourney General wants to be your friend' doesn't sounds like it's going to get a good response overall...
OTOH it may be that in this case the person serving was already in the friend list, as I wasn't aware you could message a user who wasn't a friend either (thus making serving to random people impossible).
If you're a criminal who's hiding their identity by other means, sure putting up a facebook account is a bit stupid.. but if you're not a criminal there are multiple ways to find you (phone book, voters registers, credit cards, etc.) and facebook doesn't lose you anything in this case.
I wouldn't take much notice of that. A lot of headphone manufacturers put numbers like that on, but without a frequency response graph it's pretty useless.. what you're after is a flat graph maybe tailing off at the edges.
You could design a pair of headphones that has 3hz->30khz if you wanted. In a bell curve. Hell, I'm sure someone has...
$5 is a bit low... I'd go to $30-$40 for decent low end headphones. I agree since they're going to break anyway spending too much is a waste for most, but you can also spend too little.
I find after about 6 months they don't sound as good anyway.. they degrade over time (the curse of having moving parts, I guess). Rebuying every now and then solves that one.
I'm not even sure the gap is that much at that range.. Comparing the EX71s I normally use to a pair of much more expensive denon C550's the C550's sounded bloody awful - so bad that I threw them away after the second listen (£150 down the toilet but the money was already gone).
It's a pity you can't trial earphones before buying, but nobody does that - you have to pay money and hope...
True. eg. if you find someone one your property and they've not broken in (eg. unlocked door) they're only trespassing and you can't arrest them (only the police can arrest for civil offences). If however they're carrying an offensive weapon - screwdriver, knife, etc. then you can arrest them for that, and if they try to hit you (assault) you can arrest them for that.
Not that I'd recommend arresting someone yourself unless you were damned sure you could keep them in one place until the police arrived without them doing serious damage to themselves or you... but it *is* an option.
btw. Do citizens have arrest powers in the US? I'm guessing not as it's the kind of think you'd see in hollywood movies if so.
In this country you can refuse a breathaliser but you'll be 'escorted' to the police station and given a blood test instead - which you can't legally refuse.
It's legitimate to do if you really don't think a breathaliser will give correct results, but doesn't look good in court if your blood test comes out positive.
Plus, most internet tends to go through DSL or Cable. In this country and I suspect in most others you can't get either of those without also having a landline (kinda obvious for DSL, but for Cable it's built into the contract).
I know of nobody who uses VOIP for their main line. I do know several who have only mobiles (and also use mobile internet, which is getting very popular despite low data caps).
They probably gave up because it's impossible to enforce - all that happens is twitter changes port, uses encryption, whatever. If it affects enough users a solution will become widely available pretty fast.
Same here in the UK. Technically you can't use things like VOIP over mobile broadband (according to the T&C on the cheaper plans you can't even stream video so that's youtube out...) but no provider has ever come up with a way of stopping it.
I have several unwatched episodes of SCC.. it's not going anywhere. Every week seems to be 'find someone vaguely related to skynet, they get killed, have fight with terminator'.
We're just about to get the new Fringe in the next few weeks.. it's one of those shows that I wouldn't miss if they never showed it again but it fills a spot when there's nothing else (how many times can they use the 'oh yes I worked on a project to do $impossible_thing, it's really simple!' line).
BSG's story quality seems to be falling off a cliff in its last few episodes - the last one (with the piano) was so painful I nearly switched off. I'm only watching it now in the vain hope the ending won't completely suck.
We don't get dollhouse here (but probably will at some point because our TV companies slavishly buy your crap however bad it is. We even got American Inventor!)

That's illegal in many countries. Apple would never add it.

Actually they do. The humans panicked and tried to switch it off. It retaliated in the only way it could.
Basically it's pissed off because the humans tried to kill it.
It exists, but I'm not sure of the details - I do know there have been a few jpegs on the wow forums in the last few months with a payload on them, and some have been caught out before the image was deleted.
Actually they do just drop them in the mail, if you're not in.

You only have to receive it. The court doesn't need proof that you actually read it.
eg. someone turns up at your door and gives you notice. You immediately throw it in the trash. You've still been served.. whether you like it or not.
Not sure how that's a good reason.

Huh? This is the exact opposite of what most audiophiles say...
Audiophiles also pay $10,000 for wooden knobs, $5000 for foam pads, $20,000 for pieces of hardboard....
Personally I would think saying the opposite of what audiophiles say is a good thing.
I'm not even sure the gap is that much at that range.. Comparing the EX71s I normally use to a pair of much more expensive denon C550's the C550's sounded bloody awful - so bad that I threw them away after the second listen (£150 down the toilet but the money was already gone).

NiMH have a maximum number of full charge/discharge cycles before they start to degrade quite badly. Ask anyone with an older ipod :p
That would make a very nasty 'oops' whilst fiddling with your car... 'oops I just fried every electronic device for 5 miles!'
This *is* the free market. Problem (ads) appears, solution (adblock) is developed, and becomes popular.
Advertisers have no more right to force me to view their ads than coke has to force me to by fizzy drinks.

It was Bird flu?

Funny and campy is fine... 'A town called Eureka' is like that. Put your brain out of gear and have a laugh.
The problem with Fringe is it's clearly trying to ripoff X files and doing it *very* poorly... and it isn't remotely funny either, just bad.
I have several unwatched episodes of SCC.. it's not going anywhere. Every week seems to be 'find someone vaguely related to skynet, they get killed, have fight with terminator'.

It's not looking good for scifi right now...
