Go with 24k Au, probably with some firmer sheet metal inside to ensure it doesn't squish under the monitor/books/beer bottles/cat.

  3. I heard of a BG / JDR wealth comparison... on Microsoft to Split into Four Groups? · · Score: 1

I can't remember where this came from, but I heard about a comparison of the fortunes of billg and John D. Rockefeller, and, after adjustments for inflation, Rockefeller could have hired Billy to be his caddy. Standard Oil owned what became:

    Exxon,
    Mobil,
    Chevron,
Amoco (the only one that still uses the Standard name much),
    Sohio (now part of BP),
and Conoco. And Rockefeller got to be in on the ground floor of gasoline and heating oil. Billy got to help develop (let's give him his proper credit, after all) ROM BASIC.

  5. That works the other way around... on Australian Linux user gets Windows Refund · · Score: 1

I believe that the intent of that phrase is that the copy of Windows you just received may only be used on the PC it came with, not on some other machine. If you bought one machine with NT and one with 98, it violates the EULA (isn't that a football player in Nashville?) to swap the two OS's.

It's not illegal for us to listen; they are banned from broadcasting or marketing themselves to us. They even have two websites: one for US residents and one for the rest of the planet.

The only over-the-air transmissions I know of that are illegal to listen to are cellphone calls.

and add something into one of the front bays... you wind up with a Great Big Ugly Beige Rectangle in the middle of the picture. Not so bad for the ones that have the door on them, but on the ones that don't, it's a mess.

  8. Drivers for other platforms? on Creative Labs Seeking Linux Coder · · Score: 1

This would be terrific; it could also mean finally getting updated drivers for OS/2, as well as other platforms Creative no longer has the ability to support.

  9. No it's not (C) M$ on New OS/2 Warp client · · Score: 1

I know of nothing called "Win32s-OS/2". There is the original Win-OS2, aka Windows 3.1, which is included in Warp 4, optional with Warp 3. That may well have MS copyright issues. Win32-OS2 is Timur Tabi and company's effort to reproduce the Win32 API in Warp. Their page is at http://www.os2ss.com/win32-os2/, and they have a brief comparison of Win32 and Win32s. I believe that their project is the one people have been referring to.

  11. My two favorite disclaimers... on Things the Warning Label said Not to Do · · Score: 1
I swear that these were real; I saw them personally when I worked in a discount department store. The first was on a Batman play set, around of the time of the Keaton/Nicholson movie. The set included a mask and cape, a wrist dart-launcher, and a couple of other goodies. It was labeled, "Cape does not enable user to fly."

The other was on a kids' magic set, the box of which pictured a child playing with the various pieces. In order to ensure that no one would think they were getting too much of a bargain, the box stated (I swear I am not making this up), "Little boy not included."
