Hello Joel,
I am curious to know how you feel about Mike Nelson's new project, RiffTrax. Friendly competition? Deep hatred and resentment? or something in-between?
You can use mp3/aac ringtones on the iPhone. I am doing it right now.
You can see the file system in a variety of ways including good ole LS, a simple file manager called Finder, SFTP, or now you can simply mount the device directly.
As you know, they gave consumers back $100. Not sure why you're quoting the $200 figure as proof of a rip off when I'm sure you know it's not entirely true.
The $60 a month you pay AT&T is very competitive with other carriers. I don't really care what percent goes to Apple.
How would I know what to buy without p2p? The handful of tracks a band offers on the website doesnt cut it for me -- I need to hear the whole album before i buy. I love all types of music but I've been disapponted so many times buying a CD based on hearing one track. I refuse to do it anymore
The big thing OSX Server has going is the wonderful GUI management tools Apple provides. There's nothing like it for Windows or Linux -- it literally takes 2 or 3 clicks to setup something like Apache, SQL, Samba, etc. I'm not switching from Linux anytime soon but I can definitely understand the appeal of OSX Server -- especially in environments where you already have Macs.
I love the Dock. It's one of the best features of OSX. How is it a crappy task switcher? An icon represents a program (either running or not) and right clicking reveals all the individual windows. What more do you need? What are the other options? A taskbar?
I completely disagree. We hear about water on Mars all the time in scientific papers. There is definitely water there in the ice caps and perhaps under the surface. The reason you're not hearing about it is due to the ignorant media, not the scientific research which is on-going and producing good results.

I'm sorry you are suffering because your company has locked you into a highly proprietary e-mail system. I use IMAP with my iPhone -- woks fantastic.

You can exclude things from TimeMachine backups. Exclude your ~/Homemade_porn directory.
