Microsoft downgraded the bug's severity because exploiting it requires either physical access or social engineering (tricking the user).
So physical access and social engineering aren't problems now?
Theft and idiocy are not things that can be fixed with software updates.
Go onto a college campus, or perhaps a library. Computers everywhere. Or a Doctors office. I understand perhaps your idea of computer security might be armed guards with orders to terminate with extreme prejudice anyone that gets with in a ten meter kill zone of the computer - but hey, if you are willing to accept the idea that your computer can be BSOD'd with a simple geek stick, then call it a feature. Much damage can be done that does not require your break the computer sens of how things are done.
What is the point ? If I have physical access to the machine I can induce the equivalent of a BSOD by unplugging the fsck'n thing. Why bother with a USB stick to make it crash ? Seems like an exercise in stupidity. I've discovered that I can crash your computer even if locked if I can get physical access to it by picking it up off the shelf and throwing it to the floor. Rinse, repeat....
I think if you thought about it a while, you might find that if you wanted to do some damage, that thumb drive might allow you to walk in, plug in, BSOD, and walk out without destroying anything at the scene of the crime. Think about it.
I notice you didn't have a similar "This is no problem" for the social engineering aspect.
I know that it is fashionable to believe that Windows has no problems, but seems like it's taking denial these days to exonerate the Perfect OS.

As I recall back in the day, the run up to dating a woman was fun.
This isn't "back in the day". With on-line dating, a man is lucky to get a 5-10% response rate to initial inquiries. If your time has value, paying someone else to make the inquiry and filter the results totally makes sense. Hand crafting inquiries, when you know that 95% of them are going to be ignored, is not "fun". It is a tedious chore. It is only fun once you are talking to a real person, and that still happens.
And if his time really has value, his best bet is to have the person fmor the service go on the date as well. Or eliminate all of that expensive time spent dating and simply buy a mail order bride.
The null hypothesis is that insecticides kill insects, and bees are insects. Thus insecticides kill bees. That was easy.
Your hypothesis is wrong. There are broad spectrum insecticides like Sevin. Those will nuke a lot of insects, and for that reason, a lot of care must be taken in their use. In recent years, we've been taking to using narrow spectrum pesticides as often as possible. Like for caterpillers like the Gypsy Moth, Tebufenozide will take them out without harming many other insects. There is no one size fits all.
And that requires a 4 year degree in mechanical engineering
A lathe operator is useless for CNC work.
You think that machinists are able to know only one thing? Amazing. You're trolling aren't you?
i must educate you. A college degree is not the final arbiter, the expression of intelligence and competence. In fact, in the grad inflated world of 2018 - that vaunted degree? It is for most majors, merely grades 13 through 16.
To be a machinist today - or yesterday for that matter - requires an indepth and accurate understanding of math and geometry. Not the maths of the preofessional test takers and the crammers, but the kind of math where one tiny mistake on your part can detroy a million dollars in an instant. This is not the job for someone who spent their college years getting "the college experience" and taking majors that amount to giving your opinion.
I've met plenty of not very intelligent liberal arts majors. But never a dumb machineist. So since you're either a troll or just don't take telling, Good day, sir.
As multiple women told me, "women don't know what they want and they won't stop pestering you until they get it". Maybe that was it?
Wow - Flamebait? This joke has an element of truth, which might be why it got blasted.
A huge problem with the pairing interactions between men and women is that in general, then male asks for the interaction, and the woman accepts or rejects.
I watched a very interesctin lecture by a man talking to women on why many women seem to pick the "Chads" of the world, aggressive handsome men who are self absorbed, and not men who would be considered good for long term relationships.
He used the rule of thirds. A third of men will never approach a woman, a third might, but are reticent about it, and a third are the aggressive sort.
The first group is obvious - no go. The second group might, but have a tendency to be friend zoned. The agressive guys have no problem with approaching women, and can be quite charming about it.
So women after a while expect aggression, and the guys in the second group get friend zoned, mainly because they are too timid, and probably for evolutionary reasons, the women respond to the more aggressive and charming men. I emphasize evolutionary because https://www.psychologytoday.co...
Yes it is. This is totally different from what you describe. Both of your examples are of the site using fake profiles, which is well known (although I never heard of them hiring people to go on actual dates, and I am skeptical whether that really happened).
TFA is describing members hiring people to impersonate them. So they are actually looking for a match, but are paying someone else to go through the tedium of sending introductory inquiries, and the back-and-forth chit-chat before exchanging contact info.
Hard to imagine the level of laziness required to hire someone to get you dates. As I recall back in the day, the run up to dating a woman was fun.
This isn't really news though. I remember a guy sued one dating site for using employees posing as potential matches. He even went on first dates with a few.
Then there was the Ashley Madison leak where it turned out that a significant proportion of their female members were bots.
The problem was and is that most women find most men unattractive for one reason or another. Apparently on Tinder at least, the stats on attractiveness are that men rate women on a curve that centers areoud 50 percent. Which we would expect.
Women on the other hand, rated over 80 percent of men as unattractive. But how do you keep men coming back when only a very few of them ever stand a chance of landing a date? And then you would have a lot of women competing for a very small pool of men. (they are anyhow, but you need new men to rank) This might have been exacerbated by the recent manprovement initiative, where women are now allowed to call men out who do not fit their high standards.
Since an overwhelming majority of men are deficient and unattractive, you have to tease them in order to get them to stick around. Enter the Bots and employees posing as interested others. Just enough to keep the undateable unattractive men rising to the bait.
But Iraq wasn't a desert, hot semi-arid place eight thousand years ago.
You win the internets! Iraq was converted into a desert through clear-cutting and, ironically, overuse of agriculture. These two practices (commonly combined) have done more environmental damage than anything else man has yet done. Chernobyl hasn't affected wildlife much, for example, but desertification sure does.
And a 20th century version of this happened in the USA.

California feeds most of the country to one extent or another, and we've got the most stringent pesticide reduction program in the US.
We can have crops without pesticides. We can't have crops without bees.
There are some methods that use flames to carbonize plants. These have to be used prior to planting.
But after planting, there are a couple of really cool options. One is using little waterjets to cut off the weed plants. It doesn't use a lot of water, but the plants obviously like water.
My favorite is a method that uses corn gluten to perform a sandblast action. It is also a good natural fertilizer. There are also claims that it is a good pre-emergent herbicide, but results have been varied.

Beats hell out of pesticides and herbicides that kill beneficial insects and breed superweeds.
Funny enough, a while back, there was a study, looking at Canada, that even a Liberal Arts Education usually resulted in better pay then not having one. It was something like $80k with a good degree, $60k with a lousy degree and $40k with no degree.
A lot of people forget that the arts used to cover a lot of subjects, basically everything that wasn't covered by science. You can look at the US Constitution where they updated the reason for copyright from the original "For the advancement of learning" to "the arts and sciences".
Wow- if I had a liberal arts degree, I'd move to Canada. Here it's around 40 K average. If I could get 80 K with a lib Arts, that would make it seriously better than all of the effort you have to put into an engineering degree. The liberal arts students are party hearty, trying to kill their livers, while engineering students are in the library most of the night. The benefits for a hella lot less work are obvious!
