No, I'm not saying it. You're projecting. I'm saying that the actual food prices haven't gone up significantly.

They've gone up more than wages for people who are still making minimum wage, and around 3/4 of those people are trying to raise a family.

Now you did it. Time for some to break out the claims that minimum wage is for teenagers. Meanwhile, I'm sitting in a McD's, and there isn't a worker here under 30. That's pretty typical.

As people who were once higher on the economic ladder move down, they are taking the jobs that teenagers may once have enjoyed. As well, they are collecting food stamps, getting housing assistance and daycare assistance. Funded by our tax dollars.

Meanwhile the top two hedge fund managers are making the rough equivalent of 300,000 minimum wage workers. Is this system supposed to be working? It has long ago transcended normal ideas of fairness of wages or taxes and reached full potato status.

Many have seen the future, and it doesn't include them. So I'm not surprised that one time well to do white people are becoming addicted to drugs, and find suicide as the ultimate debt consolidation program.

As for the falling popular, they have been trying to make children a more attractive prospect. Free nurseries and support for new parents, better employment rights for paternity/maternity leave etc. It's a hard problem to solve, but at least there is less opposition from people who feel they shouldn't have to contribute to other people's kids. It's seen as a national problem (which it is), not just an individual lifestyle choice.

I suspect that one of the most difficult problems to solve is the issue of people not wanting to be around children. Here in the west, if you are male, and especially a white middle aged male you are pretty much considered a latent pedophile. This in turn has the effect of making a lot of people simply avoid children altogether, much less want to have any of their own. Dunno what the situation is in Japan, but free stuff won't overcome the societies assuming that the father of a child is a sexual predator.

And you could burn every transgernder person at the stake and the sexual predators and perverts will still go in to rest rooms. Why? Not many transgenders are that.

Don't for a minute pretend that this isn't just more of the projection based hatred of people who think that restrooms equal sex, and that someone that changes gender is somehow a prevert. Some guy that had his weenie cut off is not much danger to our wimminfolk, considering s/he probably didn't cut it off in order to become a lesbian.

A heterosexual male with bad impulse control and a penchant for sexually assaulting women on the other hand is, and a person like that isn't going to think "I was going to follow that woman into the restroom and rape her, but there's a lat against me going in there, so I better not."
