The real advantage of Firefox sync is that is encrypted on the client side, so Mozilla is unable to read your data, not the same with Chrome
That's what I thought too, but apparently Chrome can do that too - it's just not on by default. Go to Settings > Advanced sync settings > Encrypt all synced data.
The problem is, though, that default is the reality for the vast majority of users.
The Addressbook is being replaced (both back end & front). http://mikeconley.ca/blog/ The old archaic design & limitations are being tossed for a more flexible & pluggable design.
If it's of interest, they're currently working to replace the whole Address Book. The old archaic design & limitations (number of addresses per contact, etc) is getting tossed for a more flexible (and I believe pluggable) design.
As it stands there is one page on the internet (on Facebook's site) that can install this sidebar. Avoid going to that page and clicking the "Turn On" button and you should be golden.
To enable click-to-play for all plugins go to about:config in the location bar and set “plugins.click_to_play” to true. The feature is considered still under development which is why it's not enabled by default.
"...though the goal is to study particles in space, not annihilate planets." *wink* *wink* Ah yes, I hear you loud & clear scientists. You want to "study" "particles" in "space". Just try not to leave the moon in too many pieces while you're studying it...
This was the exact point that came to my mind. The spinning magnet is going to need to maneuver into place anyway, why not just eschew the spinning part and once in it's aligned itself, plug in a port, thereby not losing that extra 10%.
It's clear that thought went into the spokeman's statement. Isn't it anyone's job to make sure it doesn't make him sound like a complete douche nozzle? People kind of doubt the sincerity of your compassion when you immediately turn around and implicitly blame the victims for bringing it on themselves.
When I first saw this I thought it could be referring to situations involving traditional & phone cameras, but now that I see it may not be particularly practical for these purposes, I'm trying to see its value. Could you give some examples of how the lens might be used? Thanks.
You're quite right. Mozilla, who has help to push Do Not Track and the first to implement it, is very much against turning it on by default. Doing so simply deflates the effort. MS may very well have this in mind.
There's Mozilla's Browser ID, which is uses nowhere....
Your point about the large players not wanting to play well with others is well taken, but if you mean that Mozilla's BrowserID/Persona is not used anywhere, it is still relatively new.
From what I gather Persona best fits the desires of most FLOSS advocates.
No one has mentioned BlueGriffon. I believe one of its aims is to create good/standard code. Has anyone had experience with it and the code it creates?
The sound doesn't work in Firefox because they used Flash to implement the audio. I believe Firefox intentionally does not allow mixing Flash & HTML5 in this manner.
Surprised you got modded up for how uninformed your post was. As one of the other commenters pointed out, and the Mozilla posting covered, Firefox OS is implementing WebAPI which covers the basic features you refer to, such as a Contacts API and hardware interfaces such as camera, compass, vibration, etc. (Mozilla is pushing these open APIs toward standardization so other devices (Android phones, tablets, whatever) can also implement them making web apps closer to first class citizens.)

This reminds me of the scene at the beginning of Serenity in which the children question why the Browncoat rebels would reject civilized living.

This should be fun to watch.
End-game-wise, this will help to transition users and developers away from Flash and to HTML5.
I'd say that's pretty great.
I've been using it in Beta and it works fine.
I think it's due out in one of the next two versions.
This was the exact point that came to my mind.

Ten Google employees die under mysterious, yet seemingly unrelated, circumstances.
Patiently awaiting the day there's malware that makes you feel like your hands are on fire.
Extend the license to allow them to use it. Done.

I'm a professional web developer of 16 years+, and I don't know what "Do Not Track" is.
No need to embarrass yourself in front of the class dude.
Mod parent up please.
Even the folks who have gotten behind DNT and pushed are against this.
The only reason I can think that MS would do this is either for appearance or because they know it would destroy the effort, or both.

At least you can.
