I submitted this as a story, but I guess it never got accepted. Ah well..
OpenLDAP has massive breakage both in the 1.2 and 2.x series with the S2G Unix time rollover.
The slurpd server completely fails to push updates from the master server to the slaves, due to string compares of timestamps in 1.2 and a related problem in 2.x. There are patches for both in OpenLDAP CVS.
The problem is detailed in the openldap-bugs mailing list -- it was extremely scary to come to work this morning and find out that all the LDAP servers had stopped pushing updates, causing account creations to fail and mail to bounce!
The new TNT server and GLX module were built with some sort of alien C compiler that requires a bunch of symbols that don't exist in any sane C library I've seen. When I try to run their new supplied XF86_SVGA server:
X: Error in loading shared libraries: undefined symbol: __rawmemchr
It gets better. If I use my good old trusty XFree86 3.3.5 SVGA server instead of the one they provide, even their glx.so GLX acceleration module has missing symbols:
What were these people thinking?! They didn't even BOTHER to test their servers and modules before releasing them. I certainly hope I'm not the only person to run into this seemingly-important issue!
For what it's worth, my system is pretty-much-clean Debian 2.1 (slink) with libc6 2.0. I'm shocked that binaries this broken got shipped -- how could they even work on other distributions, requiring internal-looking symbols like that?!
I didn't have anything like this problem with their old (slow, pokey, buggy) drivers. NVidia, we really appreciate the effort, but please, please, try testing in the future!
Thankfully, NVidia supplied the source, so hopefully I'll be able to compile it myself and be rid of these nasty symbols. Bonus points for Open Source!

apt-get *does* do the compiling for you if you have a new enough version. (I'm using 0.3.11 here.)
For example:
apt-get -b source gimp
This will fetch the source for the gimp package and build it. You just have to make sure you have a line in/etc/apt/sources.list like:
deb-src http://http.us.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
and you can build your own versions of Debian packages directly from source.
Yes. I called E*Trade and spoke with a live broker, who said I had to take the test, and I failed it. She was just reading off the test from the web site and filling it out for me, pretty much.

Absolutely! I imagine a sort of "Baraka" cinematographic experience. Automated cameras swiveling around a computer running Debian taking pictures every 10 minutes to show the nature-like growth of the beautiful native flora and fauna growing on the screen and between the keys on the keyboard, if you will.
Anyone got a spare $200,000 to make the commercial? I fully expect we can run it during the Superbowl next year.
Actually, VMware Fusion ships with VMware Tools for Linux, Solaris, NetWare, and Windows.
You can copy and paste and drag and drop to and from Linux, Solaris, and Windows, and easily change the resolution of the Linux VM.
