Well, how about some data from the Australian Government? They're not renowned for inflating the numbers of people affected by a disease.
I do not believe that the American anti-vaccine crowd are interested in some imaginary fairy land called Australia where big Pharma does not have its hand in every pocket of medicine. Because that would ruin most of their arguments, and they would need to come up with new ones, too much hard work.
An iPhone at best competes with a DS, and even then, it's a sad comparison. It only really works if you put on your iPose blinders.
It is not the quality of the platform in question but rather the developer mindshare. iPhone is building up greater mindshare so more developers will aim for that platform. It does not matter how good your console is if nobody makes games for it.
Well they didn't earn that freedom, their forebears did. Maybe it is time they start to earn the freedom for their descendants instead of complaining about how much of their freedom is being lost. I'm pretty sure that most people today did not earn their own freedom myself included. That begs the question if our forbears earned our freedom what did they lose to do it? So in turn what will we have to lose to guarantee that the next generation has freedom? Oh wait I'm raving again.
The Harkonnen gave their victims a residual poison. In order to survive the effects of the poison they needed a regular dose of antidote. Withdrawing that antidote caused the victim to die. Although it seems less sinister than the heart plugs shown in the Movie version it has the added nastiness that escaping capture would lead to your death.
Better to do something like what you see on a CRT image. Where the picture is built up over time but instead of using interleaving use random sections of the picture. Throw them all together and a human can see a letter where there is none and a bot will see a letter where the human does not.

Me too maybe we should get together and build a Beowulf cluster?
Go into Preferences->Advanced Tab and click Config Editor Button.
Alter the setting mail.identity.default.headers to include the string header1 note header1 is just a label then add a new string called mail.identity.id1.header.header1 Set the value of that to your X-line
From now on all mail sent from Identity 1 will have that header on it.
To create a filter based on that. Obtain an email with that header. Find a clickable link in the header and right click and select create filter from message.
At first from the drop down box you can't select that X-line so you need to go to the bottom and click customise. You can put that header in there. Now you can create a filter from it.
You think that by gaining freedom you are freer than those that choose to be responsible instead, but you fail to weigh in how much freedom you actually lose by ignoring responsibility.
As your people say
"But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as in the Federal Government." Do you truly have any liberty if you have to be afraid? Have you lost the plot and assumed that weapons=liberty? Therefore you have replaced one oppressor with another.
If you want to live in a nanny state, do it on your own private property. The nation as a whole, however, will not have its liberties infringed. Why that is so patriotic I can just see the stars and stripes flapping in the wind behind you as you say that.
The more logical course would be to locate the criminal with a pointer in his hand, and then shoot him dead. Punish that ONE person, not everybody.
Very logical but highly flawed.
Pilot: OMG someone just shot me in the eye with a laser pointer.
Flight Tower: that's ok because from your current coordinates we can calculate the area where the evil terrorist possibly is.
Pilot: ARRGH I'm coming in too hard.
Flight Tower: Shit what was that big bang?
No point in stopping the evil terrorist after he has killed people is there?
Your both wrong. In order to make tortilla you need to understand the recipe yes? NO a machine can be made that can make tortilla without understanding the recipe. So we are left with Searle's Chinese room argument. I think it more interesting that I know what a tortilla might be without actually knowing what one is. I know it is some sort of mexican food? I know you can eat it? I know they give you bad wind?
Hmm... how about a different test: can the computer tell whether it's talking to a person or another computer, better than a person can?
I like that you could call it an Inverted Turing Test. It makes more sense and is harder for the computer to accomplish. It would weed out those designs that are pretending to be intelligent and reward those that are intelligent.
Also the test is more measurable. Have the computer talk to 10 humans and 10 computers. Give it ten points for every human it guesses, and take ten for every computer it guesses. If the program chooses 50/50 then it's score would be zero. If the program scores above 90 then either it is intelligent or the test has failed.
If you think one promotes war while the other doesn't, it just hi-lights which set of prejudices you approached your study with.
I understand this, I have knew a Muslim evangelist before I knew about Muslim terrorists and Muslim extremists. What concerns me though is if you look at a Muslim country not under Muslim law you still see the same sort of bad behaviour. Just as you can look at Christian countries that are not the United States of America. But most people only look at the countries under Sharia and the USA and compare. As I pointed out to some other poster look at Indonesia instead
>>Last I checked, my Bible didn't say to wage jihad against the infidels.
>Neither does the Quran.
I'm no biblical scholar, but a quick Google shows me (which is probably about as deep as many Christians read their Bibles)...
When Jesus says I am here to fulfil the law he meant he was going to apply it to himself the hard way. It was basically like the FBI rocking up at your door saying we are here to fulfil the law, charging you and then later in court after the ruling instead of sending you to jail the FBI goes instead because someone has to pay for the crime. This is the basis of Christian theology that we although guilty of sin do not have to pay for it because God already has.
The real difference is that there aren't as many true believers among christians as there are among muslims (thank goodness). If christians believed as strongly as muslims do, then we would've had a crusade that would've killed hundreds of millions of people by now.
What a total non sequitur, Christianity is the largest religion in the world. Of course there are more fundamentalist Christians than there are Muslims. The reason we don't go out and kill everyone is because we are not commanded to. The entire idea of a Christian killing a non-Christian goes against theological reasoning. The great commandment is to make disciples, you can't do that if they're dead.
I think the problem in your reasoning is you are looking at Christians in the USA which are a minority group that shout louder than the rest. Also if you want to look at what Muslims think look at the Indonesians since they are the largest Muslim country in the world.
And you could divide the battles up into small RTS skirmishes fighting over planets in order to win a galactic war.

Sorry but can I have the other solution that would actually work?

You expect people on slashdot to comprehend posts before they start a pointless argument?
Hand in your card on the way out.
