The god you describe is as relevant as Russle's Teapot. It doesn't affect us in any way, it doesn't interact with us, and apart from mathemathical curiosity there is no reason to care about him/her/it.

Atheism usually relates more to the idea of God(and gods) that actually have some relevance to human life.

For the sake of slashdot here is a car analogy:
There exists a sage who can built a perpetual motion machine(car), but he lives in a cave and won't get involved in matters of the world or reveal his knowledge to anybody. Moreover we can never reach him, contact him or even prove his existence. An Atheist in this case is someone who doesn't care about that sage, but who believes that there are no other such sages walking among the mechanical engineers judging their designs in one way or another.

    Dear mr.Christian Science,

Your attempt to make us panic and throw a metric shitload of money into your inadequate research to end net-neutrality has failed. The average slashdot reader knows more about the intricacies of the Internet than you expect and can therefore tell you that doom's day is far off. We know that because the Terminators need IPv6 to keep track of their innumerable minions.

    No IPv6 no doom's day.

    Thank you for your time,

Please elaborate how this patent is so specific? I would think that if CSS happened to be written in XML it would be violating the patent(or be prior art)

.crappyPatent { display:none; } This doesn't look like XML to me. The patent seems to cover one XML formatting another, but of course anybody can write a less than 100 lines python script to convert it from and to xml. The only problem is that people in court will be scratching their head when you make this analogy. We need something with cars, as the standard protocol specifies.

  6. Games Vs Performance on Games Come to Pidgin · · Score: 1

Before I go on: I use pidgin for all my chatting activities, and it is an invaluable tool for me.

That said one has to wonder why Pidgin takes longer to startup than does OpenOffice Writer...
Luckily though, I only start it once a week, the day after booting into Windows for lan games.

This is Slashdot and none of us RTFA, so I guess no one RTF GSoC projects either, but for those interested:

    - Fix current audio implementation for XMPP/Jabber/Google Talk with Jingle and RTP
    - Implement video for XMPP/Jabber/Google Talk with Jingle and RTP (XEP-0180)
Yes, the Pidgin devs make some decisions that the users don't like, but if they are really as bad as people claim then anybody who thinks he/she can do better should fork it. Unless I'm seriously mistaken pidgin, finch and libpurple are released under the GPL and not the evil Vista License(tm).

Drupal5 can do all of the above if you install the multilanguage(now built in with Drupal6) and CCK. The only thing I am not quite sure about is the static HTML pages, but it supports retrieving the pages through SOAP and other stuff, so it should be easy enough to create.

I am using two 512MB RAM with 80GB HDD computers here for all my OO.o, Inkscape, Blender and GIMP work. The only time where I think I might need some more Ram(1 GB for 80$?) is when I do fluid simulation in Blender or try to work on two dozen high resolution layers in Gimp.

I am not gonna say that 512MB of ram should be enough for everybody, but unless you're doing some power work(Cinellera? huge scenes in Blender? 100 Layers in Gimp?) 512MB is more than enough for word processing and some light gaming...

Heck my brothers are in love with Metal Blob Solid and it's a 2D game!!!

I have _not_ played every mario game out there, but I did play Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island and Mario64 and I gotta say WTF?!

    1. The only way I know that mario is a plumper is that I saw some of the cartoon stuff as a child.
    2. Couldn't the castle just symbolize just about anything else?
    3. How exactly is the princess symbolizing the vatican's search for god? From what I recall Mario and the princess are together until she's stolen by Bowser(is there some symbolism I have missed?)
    4. SMW had a star road which when completed turned the turtles into heads, where is the symbolism in that? I doubt there is an animal that lends itself better to the idea of "kill the bad thing, use part of it's body as a weapon."

I'm sorry but I think you're trying to make a connection where there is none.
