Build a portfolio with what you have accomplished, give examples of skills acquired and show what your contributions to the small open source projects were. A letter of recommendation from someone in the field you are looking in doesn't hurt. If you have the time to do an internship or donate time and effort to other small projects to help build your list of accomplishments in the meantime and show a commitment and passion for the field. An easy add-on is an Oracle certification or something similar. They may not have alot of weight with those who know how easy they are, but they help build a case for getting you that all important first interview. Remember there are alot of people looking for tech sector jobs who DO have those degrees and they are having trouble too. So the important part is standing out from the crowd somehow. If there is a particular position you want, research it and know exatly what they want, and retool your resume and approach to show your strengths that align with their needs.
I know there is nothing new here, and it applies to any field or job really, but the basics of job hunting apply. Keep trying and be prepared for alot of "NO", if you can even get an answer.
Ive had an HP TC1100 for a couple years now and loved it. I find a good tablet to easily be a replacement for a netbook. The keyboard and Mouse are replaced with a touch screen and onscreen keyboard. The problem with the Tablet market as it exists right now is that new Tablet PCs are still a bit expensive and the software availabilty for touch screen is slow in being ported. Competition from Apple will help bring maturity to a Market that till now has only been used in business/commercial settings.
I agree that tablets are not a practical replacement for a standard notebook or desktop, but they make a good replacement for a netbook.
With the strong following that Apple has for its product lines and the underserved tablet market for personal computing i dont see this as unreasonable. provided they got the bugs out before investing in the hardware. a mass order will help Apple secure a better cost and that should bring about a better retail for the consumer.
heres a thought, use a small amp to run from your computer/stereo to the nearest phone jack and pipe music through the house. you could use floor speakers or satelites on posts in every room that has a jack to have cheap whole house audio. ive been debating doing this in my own house i just bought 3 months ago. of course im a layman and havent thought it through, but off hand i think it would work
if you tried to return the diapers without a receipt, all they ask is your drivers license so they can keep track of how many times you "forget" your receipt in a year. generally harmless, but also a way that less scrupulous folks commit fraud. like the fellow up above who bought games for less elsewhere to return them at walmart. this system will show if someone is repeatedly doing it. of course, why wouldnt you show your license? if you are driving ANYWHERE you are legally required to carry it anyways, so there's a good chance you had it on you.
Having worked in the travel industry ( 8 years ago mind you)and selling tickets, i had a good view of that side. many of these websites are tied into a system where the airlines alot blocks of seats at different prices, many reduced, and some for more than their own site might offer. then they sell access to these listings for a small fee and these websites (along with travel agents and the like) can plug your travel itinerary into the system and it will match up your posible flights and fares. if all the cheapest fares are taken, you get lumped into the next highest. so these websites are often paying for access to these tickets, get them for a reduced price and resell them to you plus whatever margin they care to add. now if the airline doesnt like this business model, then they just have to cease their offerings this way. of course the websites that ARE just doing the layering trick are definitely ripping you off and you should have checked a few more sites before shelling out big money
the reason many in the US dont use the bus/tram/sub/rail is convenience and atleast up here in new england its because there simply isnt an effective public system. i would gladly take the bus or other service if it went pretty much anywhere and had a useable time schedule. but sadly the bus only goes to a few locations and those are only in major metropolitan areas. doesnt help the little guy get where hes going
Good, let the communities fill the void the telecomms left behind. let the telecomms fear the power of the little guy. then watch as the telecomms simply refuse service and squash it all. damn, capitolism at its best and worst
try your local walmart, the photo center will often do this for free if they arent busy, so long as you dont ask them to scan the whole collection. try batches of 50-100
And sitting next to this product hanging on the same pegs are handheld versions of tetris, solitaire, yahtzee, an old atari controller with a dozen games in it, some dora and spongebob game controllers as well. as for about the same price as the "imitation wii" game controller. A parent can choose any of those as well. they all work fine and are fun. sorry they are not a wiimote, try electronics buddy. and conveniently on the back of the box are screenshots of the games. i've seen the pastic blisterpack this thing comes in, and the pictures of the games on the back are indeed kind of crappy. so the parent didnt bother to look and see. bummer. maybe they will learn to look before throwing their hard earned money around. but dont worry, even if they made a mistake and hate the game, they have recourse. take it back. 90 day return policy. kept the receipt? awesome! no? hope you atleast kept the box, or are willing to dig it out of the garbage. no receipt or box? take it back anyways, talk to a manager, be calm and nice and tell em what happened. amazing what happens when you try treating them like humans, or neighbors. try it. happy holidays.
