>>> Neocons... neocons. You really can't take any criticism of your religion, can you? No shades of gray, only white. Democrats = communists = traitors = evil. Republicans = freetrade = plusgood.
There are always some who hold blindly to what they think is right without opening their minds to criticism. Steotyping an entire group to this king of thinking is wrong. I, for one, listen to criticism. It isn't always easy, but it is the best way for me to know that my ideas are right.
Democrats do often espouse socialist values. Not all. Are they evil? No. I think that they are often wrong about what is best for America.
Republicans are typically for free trade. Not all. Does that make them good? I think that they are often right about what is best for America. (ignoring snide 1984 reference untill later)
Free markets have been shown to be the best motivator for humans to improve themselves. Socialism is good at making everyone equal, but it has little incentive for humans to better themselves. Altuism is great, but it is truly sad that it is not strong enough in enough people for humanity to improve the same way that Enlightened Self-Intersts improves humanity through the free-market system.
But I digress...
>>> How do you war against "Terror"? What the hell is "Terror"? Terror is an emotion felt by you. I don't feel particularly terrorized, and I don't want the Constitution eliminated because I feel afraid.
Terror as used by President Bush refers to those who use terrorism, ie terrorists.
From Oxford dictonary: terrorist n. a person who uses or favours violent and intimidating methods of coercing a government or community.
Freedom of Life, Liberty, and Property are core values of America. All three were compromised one day late in the summer of 2001. It is why we are pursuing these people.
I agree with you that the Constition should not be eliminated becuase of this. I am actually more concerned about this than future terroristic threats. What use is it if in the course of fighting that compromise what we are fighting for?
I am releived to see that the Patriot Act is being lessened and that TIA is no longer planned.
>>> Is it really a war against brown Moslems? If not, what the hell are you warring against? bin Laden and his cultists blew up some buildings. Find him. Oh, I must be a Democrat and a fool, 'cause I point out that we haven't found him, but Bush is blowing up brown Iraqis who sort of look like bin Laden, if he weren't a Saudi, rich, and oh yes, still not found.
I don't care what color terrorist's skin is or what God they worship. All that matters is the "color of their character," and terrorists character color is decidedly evil.
We are looking for Bin Laden and his cultists, as well as those that support him and his cultists. These supports included the Taliban and the ertwhile government of Iraq. I know the latter is still disputed, but I think there is sufficient evidence. And regardless of Saddam's support for Osama, it has been shown that he has supported Palestinian suicide bombers. His regime supported terrorism one way or another. Thanks to 250,000 Americans it no longer supports terrorism. Oh, we still looking for bin Laden too. He will turn up eventually, if he is not already dead.
Criticism always has it place. It shouldn't not be shouted down unheard. That said, I have heard little form leading Democrats worth much thought. Also in time of war, especially in this information age, criticism should be weighed against the possibility that it might embolden to use political warfare and otherwise bolster their will to fight all at the risk of our soldiers.
I think the criticism before the war started was fine. Once the shooting started however, I think it would have been best to rally together and work toward your goal based on the new situation. There is no "UNDO" button, dwelling in the past and wishing with all you might that a course of action had never been taken will only be seen as partisan at best.
Perhaps places like BUGTRAQ should get themselves qualified as a library/archive. That way they can deal with copywrite issues that same way libraries do.
It really makes one wonder why bother using one of the new TLD's if they are just going to be frought with cease and desist orders from domain holder(s) in the.com,.net,.org space.
Reminds me of a "special" I once say on NSI's site encouraging people to regester their name in all three!
You need to look at why all these regulation were enacted in the first place. It basically comes down to the fact that laying cable is expensive. Ineffort to get company to lay cable to rural farms and such, you needed to grant them a monompoly over the whole system so that the cheaper city cables will balance out the expensive rural ones. The same thing was done with electric power. Then all sorts of regulations were added to regulate the monsters (monopolies) thet they created.
Wireless and Data-over-power-lines. Aren't quite up to snuff - probably wont ever be for broadband.
The K7^H^H Athlon (reminds me of "athlete" BTW) uses the same Slot connector as the PII's and PIII's for economies sake but it uses a different motherboard chipset. AMD will be making its own at first until its three vendors start producing their sets.
Basically you have to choose the Chip and MB together. The rest you can start spec'ing ond ordering now.
The layout is well though out. All of the vowels are easiest to produce and the common constants are also in easy to produce spaces. A few minutes is all it takes to learn the letter positions. Once you know even a few positions, such as the vowels, you can "type" reasonalble well with minimal "hunting and dragging"
I *HATE* banner ads that move, jump and flash at you. I can see why there are used, they do grab your attention. So much so that I always stop the animations on most pages just so that I can focus on reading/viewing the page. Which is why I connected my browser to the site in the first place.
So if I were gaurenteed that the ads would be still, and not flashing moving animated I would consider it if the app was really good and nearly free.
Those of us us who have time to wade through the more numerous lower scored posts will have the time and patience to read ALL posts to be able to moderate ALL posts effectively.
The moderation/posting restriction is only a hinderance.
There is nothing to stop a moderator from logging out, posting as an anonymous coward, and then moderating up their own (anonymous) post. Sure it's a bit harder and takes longer, but that is about the only thing it will do.

According to what I have read, that is when it calls.
'Course that doen't work so well for us night owls or those who use their phone to call their ISP all night every night.
I wonder how well it could be spoofed by connecting it to my Linux box through a dial tone/ring generator...
I'd say that most if not all the people on/. know about (not necessarily agree with) the GNU project, the FSF and Free Software. The people who don't know about these things are the "sound bite" reading masses and their reporters. If RMS, or anyone, can get the media to use GNU/Linux then every new GNU/Linux user, every initiate, every PHB will ask what GNU is.
What is the GNU part of GNU/Linux?
It means GNU is Not Unix. It is Free Software created by the FSF.
What is the FSF and Free software?
*grin* Glad you asked!
This way the ideals of the FSF are made known to the masses.
The ISP has commincation lines that could be subject to interstate FCC regs, but my phone call is still LOCAL.
I heard about the billing problems arising with ISP's and telco's and how the telco's pay each other for calls that use both of their equipment. I can see why that may have to change, but their method of classifing ISP calls as long distace is wrong.
As far as I read on the EULA, the OEM must only provide *instructions* for the return of the software for refund. They could instruct you to send it to Microsoft. Of course they had better be valid instructions which will yeild in a refund. I'm guessing that the EULA says to go through the OEM becuase each of them gets a different price...
I find all too likely that M$ offers a %100 discount, ie you install %100 of your machines with Windows and you get a discount.

These sort of laws have been on the book for years.
:)
They are just as unconstitutional when they apply to drug dealers as when they apply to hackers.
Too bad Browne didn't get elected

Same reason Commercial companies use .net and .org names.
Too bad this isn't really followed anymore
No wonder Amazon had yet to turn a profit...
:)
It takes them "thousands of hours and millions of dollars" to implement something as simple and obvious as "one-click shopping"!
Probably too late for anybody to read this but I will mention it for posterity's sake :)
Not sure about 10BaseT (origional question) but the coax I am sure about:
10Base2 = 200m ~ 600ft max length (between terminators)
= 1m between nodes
= 30 max # of nodes
10Base5 = 500m ~ 1500ft
Your are right in that it uses a completely different bus and inteconnect signals but the physical connector is the same as Slot 1.
I'd like a K7/Alpha Linux box - been thinking about trying an Alpha...
The K7^H^H Athlon (reminds me of "athlete" BTW)
