I've never had this problem. I run my computer, monitor, wifi, and cable modem into mine and it works like a champ every time. I've only had two UPSs but they both worked without fail each and every time. The only problem they have is that their power is reduced as they age.
Actually, Chrome OS is a stripped down linux with a custom UI. It runs Chrome web browser and Chrome apps. It should be noted that these apps aren't the restricted kind that you find inside of the browser. They have enhanced privileges so they can access things like the filesystem.
But your point is valid. I'd rather have Chrome OS (if my only choice is between Chrome OS and Android). Android apps scale like dogshit. If I had full choice, I'd go Windows 7 + Ubuntu 13.10. I don't need touch on my damned laptop or desktop!
lol...politics are already extorted and manipulated to an extreme degree even without any involvement from the NSA. Frankly, with all the fucked up shit going on, they're the least of my worries. I'm not saying they should be ignored but they're pretty low on the priority list imho. Wake me after we get the corporations out of our government and we do something about wage inequality. Until then, the NSA is more than welcome to ponder my Asian porn collection and my secret love for the reality show Pregnant in Heels.
So your argument is that it supports threading and that some programmers may create threads irresponsibly? Sorry, that's not a language flaw. I've been writing Java for over a dozen years now and I have to see a single instance where a Java app was cranking out threads like there was no tomorrow. I've seen Java apps that don't properly synchronize threads but never what you're talking about.
That's just it...nobody is knocking at your door. People on sites like/. and reddit rage against the NSA and the government every day and yet they are still around living their lives, continuing to whine about the government oppressing them. I'm not going to make excuses for any illegal actions on the part of the NSA. They should be investigated and dealt with to the fullest extent of the law and oversight should be strengthened. The same thing applies to Snowden. Just because you do a good thing doesn't excuse your bad things. He leaked everything he found regardless of whether it was illegal or not. The truth is that the vast majority of what the NSA does is legal. Most of it made so by the so called PATRIOT act. Don't blame the NSA for what the law has granted them. Change the law.
People on this site see this issue as extremely black and white with no nuance whatsoever and it's very frustrating to me. I don't love the NSA or Snowden and I don't hate the NSA or Snowden. They have both done good things and hey have both made mistakes and they should both pay for whatever mistakes they have made.

It's called maturation and it has little to do with anything. Java is still used extensively and yet the news stream for it is pretty dead these days. The reason is that the massive flow of new libraries and tutorials and blog posts, etc. aren't there anymore. There's no point since everything you need already exists and new stuff is usually a modest improvement at best over the old stuff.

Just about every major website on the internet uses Java. I'm talking Google, Yahoo, Twitter, Netflix, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, etc. So, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.
Also, the "webolution" existed long before Node.js. Java and C# are responsible for the vast majority of it. JavaScript has largely been icing on the cake.
Oh, and there's lots of other dynamic languages and most of them are better than JavaScript. Some are even suitable for large scale development. On the other hand, JavaScript is great for what it was defined for but it sucks balls for what it is used for today. Not surprising since the whole fucking thing was written in ten days.
You're probably one of those people who thinks async I/O was invented by Joyent even though it's existed for decades.
I've written many Ruby scripts and not a single one of them defines a class. Regardless, even if I had to, that hardly makes it OO. Actually most code that people call OO isn't even remotely close to OO. It's just code that has classes with the standard 3-tier separation.
Sorry but I cannot find any reference to that anywhere on the internet. Your post was hyperbolic and sloppy. Don't be surprised if you get called on it.
I stopped reading after "creates crazy number of threads". Java only creates the threads it's told to create. In short, you don't know what you're talking about.
It has nothing to do with the iPhone. It has to do with the fact that it's a limited market so it's really not worth their time to make it a priority project.
If you'd bothered to do some research, you would know the new Mac Pro vents heat out of the top. So unless you plan on laying your legs over the top of it, you should be fine.
I'm an independent and have been for many years and I'm almost never asked to work overtime. It's funny how companies suddenly care about your time when they have to pay for it. Exempt employee status should be renamed to "exploited employee who doesn't get paid for his work".
It was openly discussed and even demo'd on 60 minutes. Do you still want to stick with that "keep thing squiet and away from the masses" statement?
In any event, the NSA merely collects the data. Other agencies like the FBI will request information about the connections. So a phone number is provided to the NSA and the NSA gives them a set of phone numbers associated with the target number. It's up to the requesting agency to track down names and other details.
Really? You think he saved me some from untold fate? Like what? Should I thank him if my sister is killed in a terrorist attack that was made possible by his intelligence exposures?
Already exists...it's called vudu. Their video quality is far superior to netflix.

So you're just calling it "massively overpriced" without anything to support it? It's just something you pulled out of your ass?

Bingo! We have a winner!

Price out all of the parts and then come back and tell me how overpriced it is. I have yet to see anyone do it.
Because the people who buy these things won't be using Apple mice and keyboards anyway.

It's sponsored. Historically, they shit on Apple.
Apparently you have no idea what a banana republic is because this story has no relation to the concept.

The NSA never said they don't have the ability, they just said that they don't do it. The leave it to the requesting agency to look into.
Your statement makes no sense whatsoever.
It was openly discussed and even demo'd on 60 minutes. Do you still want to stick with that "keep thing squiet and away from the masses" statement?

There are several companies already doing this.
