    You say "just close the loopholes" like it's no big deal. If that were true, they'd probably be closed already. I'm guessing that even if the government knew how to close it, you couldn't get the votes necessary in congress to pass such a bill due to all the corruption.

    When did I say they can't or shouldn't do whatever their citizens please? I never placed blame. I only stated the fact that their laws DO, in fact, have to do with this problem.

    They do pay taxes on their income. Unfortunately, their reported profits are much lower than their actual profits (courtesy of tax loopholes like the Double Irish strategy).     Odd that I have any number of gambling websites I can go to and spend money in spite of all this censorship you refer to. Also, I make no excuses for censorship. I have zero problem berating the government for inappropriate takedowns. Just because ICE doesn't have a perfect record doesn't mean they are bad. Mistakes have happened and they should be correct but they are on record as not having any interest in censorship. That's a lot more than I can say for the UN. You actually believe they would do a better job? Seriously?

    Nice false equivalency you have going there. You can't compare ICE domain seizures to free speech censorship. The domain seizures done by the US are against sites selling illegal goods. The only reason the internet is as free as it is, is because the US has been controlling it. That's why you have the right to sit here and bitch about how the US shouldn't control it.

    I've spent a lot of time in the earlier part of my career writing multithreaded applications (mostly client/server stuff) and I got very good at it. That said, it's a complete waste of my time as a developer. Developers should focus on domain problems, not how to tweak the microprocessor. In my experience, most developers don't seem to ever fully get how to write multithread apps and threading problems are a royal pain in the ass to debug. I can't see a better candidate for automation than taking this out of developer's hands.

    I used to write my own linked lists and hash tables but I don't do that anymore either. It's a new era and it's all about the domain.

    No, I didn't. Normal people can act in psychopathic ways but they can never actually be truly psychopathic. True psychopaths have no conscience. They couldn't have one even if they wanted one (and they don't want one). A normal person may do bad things but they will have to deal with the emotional turmoil that results.

    They don't all have this new technology you're referring to. Saying coal is clean with the amount of CO2 it dumps out is pretty ridiculous. Coal pits also completely destroy the environment in which they are dug.

    The way women are treated in that part of the world is no secret and has been widely reported. 60 Minutes did a segment on the situation in Saudi Arabia and if that's not mainstream, I don't know what is. I also don't buy this whole "nothing is being done about it argument". For example, we have done a lot of work to setup and protect schools that girls can go to.

    To the extent that you could argue that not enough is done, I would say the issue is that not enough is being done, I would say that it has more to do with the fact that most westerners think people over there are a bunch of assbackwards morons and that it's basically a hopeless situation. Same deal with Africa. Political correctness has nothing to do with it.

    I honestly can't see how a physicist's opinion on psychology is relevant. To my knowledge, he has never even studied it. But his argument is laughable because he's basically saying that by virtue of being human you cannot objectively study human behavior. I can just as easily say that by virtue of being human you cannot objectively study anything...and I'd be right. Keep in mind that he was pissed off that they said his IQ was only 125.

    That aside, my original argument wasn't a psychological one. They've done brain scans on psychopaths that show their brains have developed differently than normal people. Google it. There's more research to be done on this subject but if them having a different brain isn't scientific enough, then I have nothing more to say on the matter.

    If you knew anything about psychopathy, you would know that it's simply not possible for normal people to think like a psychopath. For example, it's simply not possible for them to feel remorse. The wiring just doesn't exist in their brain. While normal people can occasionally do bad things, they are hardly the same people.

    Your argument is completely ridiculous. I've had this very discussion about the price of life with people who are not psychopaths. While we might not agree on what the exact "price of life" should be, we all realized that there are no endless resources for dealing with these situations and people need to get real about it. The reason nothing happens with this is simply politics and religion.

    You obviously have never studied psychopathy at all. You really should before making such arguments because I can assure you that you would not like their solution to this problem. There are a few books written for they layman that do a very nice job of explaining how these people work. One thing you will learn is that you don't want these people in charge of anything that matters at all.
