Be honest and tell your boss and colleagues that you sometimes are having a hard time reading other peoples code and that a few extra consonants here and there would help you become more productive. You don't need to mention any names. Perhaps everybody already knows what you are talking about, if it is a real issue, not just you. That way nobody will feel that you are stepping on their toes.
