    You can use node for everything, with various degrees of success of cause.
    But what makes it stand out, together with npm, is its capability as a front-stack development tool.
    It enables architects to scaffold frontend projects in no time, with backend developers working in parallel on REST services.
    When your frontend team is done you can easily build and deploy the frontend to any web-platform or SaaS provider.
    Besides that it is useful for a lot of other tasks that you would usually program in Perl or bash scripts.
