I live in Poland. Govt Healthcare costs the same for everyone.
I don't smoke or drink a lot of alcohol. Only thing that can "punish" me for information about me is car insurance, but they're far from being that technologically advanced.
Doesn't scare me at all. Maybe future generations will see that, but in reality, I just gain from the lack of privacy for now.
And some don't value their privacy too much. I don't.
You might say this is foolish, but that's just a personal choice - I prefer price discount over hiding with what I like to eat / buy.
Same here. The UI to start new apps from start menu is the best I've seen in Windows (hit start key - type 2-3 letters - hit Enter) but still it's easier for me to click the right icon (which is always in the same spot, no matter if started or not) with my mouse.
Changing how the start menu looks doesn't change any of this behaviour - keyboard still works.
I want my information sold, as I get some service from the company selling my data in exchange.
I prefer to pay with my information than with my money. I work hard to get my money. I just live by to get the information - it's being created no matter what I do. To get money, I have to do specific things in specific time, sometimes in a specific location, which doesn't have to be my preferred way of spending time.
It's way easier to create information than money.
I don't stress about work after work. The thing is: the right organisation. You have people you can rely on, that will do the job when you're not there. And yes - that means someone available under the phone 24x7.
Sometimes it's me, but usually not - it's a shift. So - work hard when you work, don't think about it when you're not working:)
Have you thought about this? Every program out there uses floppy image as the "save" button, but most of the teenagers right now never saw a real floppy disk. We need to replace it with something.
right... so after setting up a VM I can either click through this window or apply registry hack / GPO change? How "viable" is that?
and what difference does it make?
Oh this "welcome to new IE8" window is annoying as hell. Try to setup multiple virtual machines - servers, clients, whatever. You HAVE to click through those options on every new VM you setup. It's a pain in the back.
No, I don't know what loops do you mean. Any regular DVD bought in a store starts automatically after being inserted into a DVD drive - at least with win7.
Thanks to Firefox some users do know what a free software is, but right - they don't get a clue about DRM. Either their movie "just works", or they download a pirated copy
hardware RAID 5 for minimising impact of disk failures. And one external hard drive backup, kept in offsite location.
Also, sync the most important data with your laptop, if you have one, so you have kind of two external backup media.
Winamp was a small, great, fast and reliable MP3 player. It was, up to version 2.95. Then they started version 3, which was waaay slower, with new eye candy and crossfader. Nobody actually used it, so they got the UI of version 3, tried to catch up with version 2's speed and reliability and made it Winamp 5 (2+3 = 5).
I've got Ctrl-Shift-Slash that runs cmd or powershell (depending what's installed) on all computers I use. Come on, there are things you do faster in command line, even in Windows:)
To be on topic - as a power user, I try out every new Ubuntu and Windows version that comes out (MacOS doesn't give free versions to run on regular PCs, sorry;) and I can say Ubuntu is having way less problems with every release. However, with every release, it says one thing to me: there's software for almost all of my needs on both Windows and Linux, both can manage my hardware pretty good, so... why switch?:)
And without the risk that if you enter an unlabelled CD "to check what di you record there 6 months ago", a game installer will popup, consuming a lot of your RAM and time.

Starbucks online? :) I still want my 10%. I prefer to pay by giving my email address than by real money.

What decryption software? DVD codecs are included in Windows 7 (not in Vista, though).

Right, that's been the case with Intel, where they couldn't stop other companies making their own 486 DX 4 + whatever "extra" marks you could add

I would say these are the new features added in post-beta, not bug fixes.
