  3. Re:i don't believe it on Possible Monogamy Gene Found In People · · Score: 1

I go exactly in your line of thinking. Basically, humans are animals that can think (sometimes it's good, sometimes not...). So for a specie to survive, it has to reproduce as much as it can, and this is WHY sex is fun and gives great pleasure. You imagine where humanity would be if sex was not fun?

The only reason why monogamy appeared is because of jaleous, unconfident males who could not accept that their mate go elsewhere and find more satisfaction in a relationship. So monogamy is no more than a social behavior, not genetic in our case. On the other hand, it COULD be possible that some genetics link two "animals" together, since according to some studies, 90 percent of birds are monogamous, while 7 percent of mammals are. (By the way, aren't we mammals?) It is still not proven that genetics has something to do with monogamy, since it is still considered a social evolution rather than something inherited.

Didn't RTFA, but maybe it's worth asking the questions; are they pointing to geographic or magnetic north pole? Then a better hypothesis could be formulated. And what about the cows at the equator? Where are they pointing? And those in the southern hemisphere?

I think that asking all those question could give a better overview; do the cows have magneto-sensitive ions in their brain like pigeons? Or do they only want to avoid the sun in their eyes?

Well that's true for Quebec City, but in Montreal, being english-speaking only is not a major issue, and there are plenty of jobs over there too. But in western Canada (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta), which is english speaking, they also need a lot of people, just like in Ontario. Canada's economy is great, and IT staff gets paid accordingly. Just look at the link I posted to monster.ca...

If you are willing to learn french, which is just a little more complicated than english but shares many common characteristics, you can get a job in Quebec City, and profit from our booming economy.

On a more historical basis, when our French ancestors first came to America, they needed women to perpetuate the human race on this new continent. So the king sent the "King's Daughters" (Les Filles du Roi). They stopped first in Quebec City, so we chose the beautiful women first. Then we were dumping the rest to Montreal. This explains why we have so much beautiful women here in Quebec City!

If it did happen in the US in a state that permits it, the guy would receive a simple injection and we'd be at peace. But since it happened in Manitoba, Canada, our laws will incarcerate this guy for a "life sentence", which means 25 years in prison with a possibility to be freed after 10 years upon good behavior.

I'd rather the option of the lethal injection in cases where it cannot be denied that someone commited murder. Life in prison is way too civilized in North America to make them really pay for their crime, adding the fact that they will make new "friends" who will help them with their future crimes... Another solution would be to send them to North Korean prisons, or Malaysian prisons.
