  1. Re:It won't be the same. on Chance for a Tunguska Sized Impact on Mars · · Score: 1, Informative

Kinda neat that this coincides with some new findings about Tunguska and how it may have been far smaller than was earlier predicted. More or less the atmosphere may worked to direct the blast, and the explosion may have been significantly smaller. Of course this effect would be far less significant on Mars with its thin atmosphere.

It may be far greater impact than Tunguska was, but only cause may suck more at math than we though.

You are mistaken. You can tack with a kite, in fact the available window is greater than that of most fixed sails, because the apparent wind speed of the kite is not tied to that of the ship.

You can tack with pretty much any kite you can steer, a lot of toy shops sell small steerable kites for about $5. They are garbage, but will totally demonstate the idea.

You could also look up any of the thousands of hours of kite surfing footage on youtube.

"The fuck", in the imperative phrase "[You] shut the fuck up", is an adverbial phrase. "The bugger" is the subject of "Shut the bugger up", which is declarative. "Shut the fucking bugger the fuck up" could be either, but the bugger is still used as a noun. Or something like that.

More likely is that folks just won't use it most of the time, and then will bitch about having to convert stuff whenever it leaves the building. The will work in whatever standard it saves stuff by default(.doc one assumes), and only worry about ODF for things getting made available to the public. Still leads to bitching, FUD and computers being more difficult to work with. Or maybe office drones in Holland work differently than those I see in the states. In no way should this be read as placing the potential blame on a group other than MS and end users, or as opposition to forcing government agents to use open standards.

Hell, this is why I'm kinda pissed I can't just buy one(rather than having to buy two, which I can't really afford). Purportedly, the more they sell the cheaper they are, so why force people do buy them in pair? Even buying one, assuming you are willing to pay for shipping/handling still, should, help with the overall goal. Even if the school turn around and sell them, they still help out OLPC.

Wow, great so this isn't good for lost folks, unless they can read a map and street signs. There plenty of uses there knowing mostly where someone is would be helpful. It is more than accurate enough for "find the nearest X" applications and other stuff like location based adsense(this is google we are talking about, and they like money).
