Apple never needed fascism to keep their devices largely free of malware. They even have old television advertisements that brag about this very thing.
My opinion might not be "right" but yours is certain wrong. It's contradicted by the facts.
The mindless Apple fanatics just can't see the big picture so they attack anything that doesn't seem immediately pro-Apple as bias. This path that Apple has taken will ultimately harm everyone including Apple. The fanboys are just too blinded to see it.
They're like Republicans that interpret a story created in the mid 70's as a direct attack on Bush the younger.
That's fine until the smaller bank is assimilated by the larger bank because your idea of government regulation resembles a post apocalypse movie like Mad Max.
Software is cheap precisely because it is put together with the least possible care that industry can get away with. The moment you alter this, Software will by necessity become much more expensive. It's not trivial and it's not cheap to produce more reliable software.
Toy manufacturing is the result of about 300 years of manufacturing experience plus about 10,000 more shared expertise in bespoke production before that.
Without a paying customer you have no real damages.
THAT is what separates a commercial criminal enterprise from some guys on a torrent swarm. The transfer of money directly to the perpetrator in exchange for the product is the only thing that demonstrates that there are any lost sales here.
Anything else is a self-serving fantasy.
There are no damages if there are no willing customers.
Those lost sales are a total fantasy. They aren't actual damages. They are something that was made up to address professional pirates. They are entirely inappropriate when applied to an individual.
Such a verdict also violates the tort reform concepts that so many people like you would apply to corporations.
What this really boils down to is "tort reform for the rich, and crime and punishment for the poor".
The idea of "imaginary damages" needs to go.
They are clearly unjust regardless of what kind of excuses you would like to make for them.
> Though, I have say I have yet to see anybody actually make a convincing argument that Obamacare will increase premiums
The idea of what is an "acceptable" insurance policy will be driven eurotrash wannabes that wish to deprive me of the right to be self sufficient and manage my own money. That will likely make my current plan effectively illegal and either force me to buy a plan that costs double of my current one or I will be fined by the federal government.
I would rather just be taxed. It's more honest. They can put an Obamacare tax line item on my pay stub next to SSI and Medicare.
Doctors don't want you if you are on medicare. Medicare doesn't pay crap and there's always more screaming from the electorate to "stop fraud" and "cut waste".
That's why it really amuses me when people in the US pine for socialized medicine because the examples we already have are something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
The whole sub-argument is about traditional major medical coverage that handles precisely the sort of large out of pocket costs you're talking about.
Insurance simply does not scale down.
For smaller claims, the transactional overhead if more than the cost of the service itself. Everyone is better off just paying cash and avoiding the overhead of the small stuff.
You avoid the immediate transaction costs of the small stuff plus the any scaling issues you will trigger from magnifying the size of the claims management apparatus.
You may find that the grass is not really greener. We have had our own independent policy for a long time and have never had a desire to switch to an employer's plan even when that was an option. Those plans aren't any better. Plus if you are really unlucky, your employer will switch plans on you and screw you out of your deductible.
The only real answer here is to be free of Big Business and Big Government. Those of us that can fend for ourselves should not be made dependents of either.
Car and house insurance are there to cover your liabilities to OTHER people. The latter is the result of you entering into a contract with a bank. The former is a miserable stupid failure and is really no great argument in favor of the state forcing you to buy insurance.
Plus IT IS THE STATE. That little detail really does matter. There are some things that states get to do that the feds don't. That's how the rules were set up.
Ignoring the rules is just stupid and the Congress should no more be above the law than you should be.
It's a big fat mess of corporate welfare is what it is.
The 5% or so of people that would actually be punished and encouraged to buy health insurance under the plan are simply not that significant. They certainly aren't enough to completely trash our long established rules about the limits on the federal government.
That mentality is basically assuming that you're treating your PC in 2012 as if it were an IBM 5150 in 1982.
There's this thing called windowing now.
Ironically they used to have these things called "full page monitors". If you were to put one of those on it's side, it would look suspiciously like a modern TV.
A 4:3 screen doesn't make any more sense for "just text" either.
It's just what you are used to and you are old and unable to adapt and are making up lame excuses for you own failings.
Airlines most certainly "screen and question" you. If the busybody at the gate decides to not let you on the plane, she will find some bogus excuse to not let you on the plane.
Piss off the person. Complain to the person. Act like anything but a floor mat, and you might not get on your plane.
These people have the power to ruin your day and they know it.
You see this sort of thing on consumer advocacy sites all the time. Some petty beaurocrat from an airline will get their panties in a bunch and you will be denied entry to the airplane. It's not just limited to people that are trolling the TSA.
This seems much less like an example of the TSA acting like brown shirts. This seems to be the all too common case of some b*tch at the gate going on a power trip.
Trivial nonsense can set these people off. You don't have to be confrontational at all.
Being packed in together hip deep in their own waste doesn't have anything to do with healthy conditions? We should subject you to the same and see how long you last.

> Why should contraceptives be "covered?"
They prevent a very expensive medical condition.
That's fine until the smaller bank is assimilated by the larger bank because your idea of government regulation resembles a post apocalypse movie like Mad Max.
You make it sound like singles and radio are a new thing.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
No. He understands the point completely.

Plus toys are remarkably simpler.
All of your attempts to slander the defendant are ultimately irrelevant.
Nice try though: The "but he's an evil gangster" fallacy.

If you are on a major medical plan, you will not get charged more. That's just stupid simpleminded alarmist nonsense.
If you are still a paying member of the "Big Insurance Company", then you will get the same negotiated discounts as any one else.
Although cash rates tend to be lower rather than higher even accounting for the haggling that goes on between large companies.

Of all of the UK expats I know living the in US, I have never once heard any of them belly-ache about the US healthcare system.

1950 called. They want their curmudgeon back.
Just call this guy Mr. Heisenberg...
If you really think that then you are a fool.

Thankfully, that is a rediculously easy process that requires no special equipment. Doesn't take that much longer than the microwave either.
Being packed in together hip deep in their own waste doesn't have anything to do with healthy conditions? We should subject you to the same and see how long you last.
So? It won't do anything to ensure that the next game/movie is made.
Not everyone is governed entirely by envy.
