    I'm glad DOE invested heavily in Solyndra. I bought a bunch of very expensive Solyndra equipment on Ebay for about $0.10 on the dollar. Which means it was bought at bankruptcy auction for about $0.03 on the dollar. Everybody wins!

    ...and the day they take it from me is the day I leave Verizon. I have somehow managed to get subsidized phones and keep my unlimited data plan. Most recently was with the October '13 glitch that let me get a LG G2 and keep my data plan. I travel extensively to rural areas and use the hell out of my data plan. Verizon's network coverage is still untouchable, as is their ability to nickel and dime their customers.

    That is correct except when Im not looking solely at the GDP for the manufacturing industry. My original comment is that we as a nation are shifting away from manufacturing. That means it is comparative to all other industries in the US. For comparing things that are pieces of a whole, statistics dictates we use percentages. Thus, compared to all other industries in the US, manufacturing has gone down.

    No, manufacturing has not gone down. Manufacturing's share of GDP has gone down. Two entirely different things.

    In 1953 the percentage of GDP from manufacturing was 28%. In 2012 it was at 12%. I'd call that a drop.

    Destroying the "great evil" that was Saddam landed us with ISIS, going off half cocked with ISIS will create what. There will be no "and the great Satan was destroyed. The end." because people will still be living after you declare victory and a power vaccum will exist. A long term solution is not to meet them with force, but to weaken their powerbase. However this is hard and requires forethought and planning where as dropping bombs makes it look like you're Doing Something(TM) now. Screw what might happen in the future.

    No, leaving Iraq prematurely is what fueled ISIS. A long term solution would have been to do exactly what we did in Germany, Korea, and Japan. There's a lot of things I'd like to say in response to your other points, but frankly I don't have the time or will to do it on Slashdot. I just don't care that much.
